Hotel Riu Playacar - 77710 Playa del Carmen

Food was better here than any all inclusive we've ever stayed at in Mexico! Staff were great, activities were fun and rooms and grounds were tidy. The only thing that bothered us is that floors in the restaurants were very slippery even with sneakers on. I'm assuming it was just the style of flooring they used, because they weren't ever wet.

Fun hotel. Rooms are okay but you have to walk to your room since there is no elevator this got old very quickly. Also rooms have AC but it doesn't really work. The hotel limits the AC to 22 degrees Celsius which is very hot and it only sometimes works in the room never in the bathroom. Other than that the staff is good and the food is pretty good. The mini bar in the room was only stocked once our entire trip.

Here at Riu Playacar now. Not a happy camper at the moment. Masks are required at buffets. I don’t mind that at all. I own a restaurant. I get it. I have masks at the door for those that arrive without. Not here!? we had masks this morning. They got wet at the pool. We were hungry. Pepe’s was closing so we went to buffet. Not allowed in without mask. Ok. That’s fine. Where are the masks. ? They don’t know. Get the hell out. You don’t have a mask. No food. Horrible customer service!!! There are too many resorts here with great customer service to put up with this.

Wonderful staff! Very hard working and pleasant. The food is amazing and obviously fresh. The rooms are well kept along with the pool and beach area. Every night there is a different theme of entertainment to appease children and adults. Entertainers are also very enthusiastic and it shows!

Beautiful location water was amazing Beach was kept nice and clean pools were gorgeous full bar was fun but the food was awful. Rooms were nice. They did not keep room bar up nor were there any snacks in the room as promised. Terrible food for all inclusive. I am not s foodie but this was bad. I should say more but I'll keep it at that! Everyone in our party including teenagers did not like any of the food.

The hotel is very beautiful! they have different events for kids and adults that perfect for families. Super nice staff, high quality food and beverages. Gorgeous beach and pool, amazing bar! Interesting events for kids! The only thing that I wasn't happy with, was the beach activities. My husband and I rent a Jet Ski and we fell down to the water in the middle of the ocean no body came to rescue us considering they were following us with a drone camera to sell us the video and we felt terrible and disappointed; after 10 minutes, a guy came from other hotel, first, checked the Jet Ski to see if it's ok then he got us. I was literally scared in the middle of ocean when see no body is coming for rescuing us. Except the beach activity, this hotel was great! Highly recommended!

Gorgeous well-kept beach with soft white sand and crystal blue water. Plenty of beach chairs. The adult pool with swim-up bar was closed the only full Day we were there because someone vomited in it. Hotel room was nice, with a very large and pretty bathroom, great shower, and a large glass-enclosed balcony with partial ocean views, and everything very clean. No elevators so I had to walk up four flights of stairs to get to my second floor room. No coffee makers in room, and no blankets only sheets on the bed. ZERO nightlife. The pool bar closes at 6 and the only bar open is a lobby bar with absolutely no ambience, and the “theatre” which seemed to have pretty sad entertainment - the one night we went by it was what seemed like s high school student playing a trumpet followed by music videos on a movie screen. The food was not great in general, though my partner had a steak that he enjoyed. The crowd was mostly older, seemed like s huge percent retirees and the rest families - very few young couples - we are in our late 40’s/early 50s and we’re not looking for a party hotel, but wanted at least a good bar with a little bit of a nightlife vibe to hang out in and we’re very disappointed.

Great location , people are friendly good service. I would stick with the buffet restaurant as we did feel the other restaurants were any better. The liquor in the room is basic low grade so go to the bar for your premium drinks. The activity crew was awesome especially Mauricio who got us involved daily. The shows were pretty good overall. It’s not 5 star but still a great place to relax.
