★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lots of history here. Supposedly here is where the first Mass in Mexican soil happened over 500 years ago...Well maintained and beautiful. Located in downtown Cozumel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Eglesia de San Miguel is the local Catholic Church in Cozumel. The masses are in Spanish. Come to early mass (0700) on Sunday if you plan to attend at all, as the church is not air conditioned. (There are other masses also including vigil masses) The cantor and readers are friendly as are the people. We were given a copy of the mass readings and other parts of the mass, in English. It is simply decorated and quaint but portrays the faith of the people who go there. The church itself is open at other times if you just want to go in and pray. The pictures supplied here or not all of this church.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ While on a cruise in 2005, we stopped in to see the church. It was simple but nicely decorated, and we sort of eavesdropped from the back while a local child was baptized. Drop in and spend a few minutes talking to God while you're in Cozumel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always visit this beautiful little church when in Cozumel. Take time to for God and thank him for the many blessings he has given us. Quiet solitude. If you go to mass, go early because it gets warm in Cozumel.so glad we came across this church. Under some renovation last time we went.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful, historic, and reverent catholic church. Visit but be respectful as it is an active congregation. It gives a wonderful "vibe" Take pictures, but do not touch or step up onto altar. Do be sure to visit their cemetery a few blocks south. Very interesting.
