It is an iconic place in the city of Altotonga, the patron saint of this church is Santa María Magdalena. This place offers a place of worship for practitioners of the Catholic religion, courses and tallloeres. On Sundays there is a sale of food in the atrium where snacks are usually offered at a very good price and the funds raised are to help with the parish expenses.

Su fiesta patronal se celebra el 22 de julio en honor a Santa María Magdalena, en el interior de su parroquia la pila bautismal fue convertida en una fuente y los lugareños la identifican como la "fuente bautismal". Sin embargo impone el tamaño de su nave y es sin duda un orgullo para los altotonguenses.
