IK-KAN Galeria-Taller is more than just an art gallery. It is a place to learn history, symbolism, and to tap into your own artistic vision. Rafael led us, with his son, Angeluz as interpreter, in an exercise to cultivate a vision to design our own alebrijes. They were wonderful guides and became fast friends. They were also very helpful in helping my husband and i choose the right gift for a couple of important people in our lives. They made thoughtful suggestions based on considerations of who each person is. Rafael did not make suggestions based on a need to sell something, but based on true connection. The suggestions were perfect and the gifts were well loved. We will absolutely visit the IK-KAN Galeria-Taller family again one day and highly recommend anyone visiting Valladolid do so as well!

So interesting and relaxing! What a lovely way to spend a morning. The gallery is beautiful and I loved learning about the history of alebrije art!

Must visit in Valladolid. A small art gallery with gorgeous art full of meaning. I really loved all explanations from Julieta, her passion was contagious, and it was very exciting to learn about Mexican art and alebrijes from her. Also, there are small art pieces to sell, perfect for a souvenir.

Just walking by the street we found this nice place. We stepped in almost casually.. What a wonderful surprise! A very passionate young boy showed us the gallery while telling us the real story of how alebrijes were firstly invented! So fascinating and interesting! We already visited the artisanal Pueblo of alebrijes in Oaxaca region, but nobody told us the real story! Moreover, you Can see them at work painting alebrijes! MUST SEE!
