★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I recently moved to Mérida from the United States to study & I was super nervous about living here for 6 months and finding someone to be able to cut my hair in the style that I normally do. I did a lot of research and saw so many great things about Kate’s salon & decided to bite the bullet and make an appointment.
The entire staff was so kind with me and explained things in English when I wasn’t able to fully understand Spanish. Laura was extremely caring & kind with me and listened when I explained my normal style & she cut my hair accordingly. She also was so kind to speak with and I really enjoyed her conversation! Kate and her entire staff are super welcoming, kind, and attentive. I highly suggest this salon! You will not be disappointed! :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was excited to get my haircut in Merida while on vacation, unfortunately the end product was less than pleasant. I had really long hair without any layers, asked for long layers and walked out with a chopped up masterpiece. I wasn’t able to see the final results until I washed out the styling this morning, needless to say I will need another haircut, somewhere else, to fix this as my hair is uneven and the layers are well all over the place.
I would recommend that junior stylists be accompanied by senior stylist to ensure haircuts are done appropriately. My hair wasn’t separated into sections just cut into. I foolishly brought my sister in to get her hair cut at the same time as me and she too ran the same bad luck with layers all over the place and uneven from one side to the next.
I do not recommend this place at all. (At least for haircuts)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am so grateful to Kate and her team- they've done an incredible job on my hair. Laura was my stylist and she did a really good job on my highlights. The placement and color is just perfect and so natural looking. I got a better result than I was expecting. Kate is super responsive to messages and understanding of your needs and what you want to achieve with your hair. The ambiance of the salon makes it a peaceful place to come relax while they work their magic. I also love that they use Olaplex. It's been over a week since I got my hair done at Kate's salon and my hair is softer and smoother than ever- which is shocking because of how hard the water in Mexico can be on your hair.
I highly recommend Kate and Laura! Thank you so much.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very unprofessional experience. I called to schedule a keratin treatment appointment and hair color. The woman asked which I wanted to do first and I said whatever she recommended. She said come for a consult and I said okay as long as after I could get one of those done. She scheduled me at the end of the week.
I show up for my appointment only to have it be a 5 min appointment where she told me I had a lot of hair and it would be 2500 pesos. I said I know I have a lot of hair and I told the woman on phone the length and then she asked which I wanted to do first and told her the same I told the receptionist. She says your choice so I choose keratin. Then she says okay we will schedule you.
Seriously?!? I came for a 5 min repeat convo to only be scheduled another week later. No thank you.
They were not accommodating even after sharing that this is not what I was told on phone. And I speak Spanish so it was not a miscommunication.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As long as I lived here in Mexico I’ve never experienced such poor and horrible hair service. Very disappointing service. I showed the staff pictures of the color I wanted. It was a honey golden blond, and I came out as a brunette and super dark. Also, the staff is not familiar with curly hair. The color they chose was dark and not what I’d asked for. And the haircut is also uneven and not shaped for someone with curly hair. I feel my hair looks worse than when I went there. I asked for a trim and she chopped off two inches. Not a good experience. I paid $2300 MX for something that looked like I cut and colored myself with my eyes closed. Like other reviewers mentioned. They aren’t familiar how to cut in layers, or properly cut textured hair.

At first it was a bit of a struggle as my stylist was Bela - she doesn’t speak English & I don’t speak good enough Spanish- but Kate arrived and took the haircut over, communication became easy in English so my hair was cut just the way I like it. Second time I went back to Kate. As I have long and slightly wavy hair, I’m not an easy case, but I walked away with a comfy haircut both times. They use really good quality products & the salon is lovely. I’d recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Laura took great care of me and I came out with a fantastic result. Her attention to detail is really special and I enjoyed her company - she was okay just letting me sit there and chill. Kate's place is a beautiful salon, a lovely place to sit and unwind for a few hours. Kate knows her stuff so if you have any doubts about your hair, just ask her! If I ever return to Merida, I'm coming back to visit Laura and Kate. Thanks team!
