The people are so wonderful at Los Alcatraces and the food is so good and unbelievably cheap. It's more of a self-service, I guess that's why, but I'm not sure. I've been there twice now and I was surprised to only see local people both times, I was the only white person (not a bad thing at all, I just thought there would be loads more tourists with this many good reviews). I was asking about how much to tip the first time and the lovely server (I'm so sorry, I've forgotten your name.. I actually think it was José but I really sound like a white guy stereotyping when I'm really just bad with names, my apologies) told me not to leave such a big tip and was happy to teach me about tipping etiquette in Mexico and who really expects it (which is super refreshing and nice when you hear so many people saying how much you'll get ripped off in Mexico, which obviously does happen too), saying that 10% was typical and that it wouldn't even be necessary in a self-service (of course I still left one). The second time we spoke about places I might travel to next and he was happy to tell me which ones he liked or didn't like. They offer to put the fan on above you, a kind older gentleman (who I think had actually finished work) gently offered if I'd like the light on above me, to which I politely declined. The walls are full of beautiful colours and art (look past the fluorescent lighting, it's a lovely place). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Food is really good. It's a great option if you're downtown and want a taste of regional food. Try the motuleños eggs, they're awesome. Also is a good place to take a picture. Decoration is really nice.

This is a great restaurant with friendly staff. We are not native Spanish speakers and one of the staff helped us navigate the menu. Great Service! I ordered huaraches with omelette and it was excellent!

One of the most traditional restaurants in the town!! Delicious food, great service and cozy place. Try Mole, quesadillas and huaraches. The Turkey is a most in Xmas Season!!

It is like a canteen with cheap food but super tasty!! We went twice during our staying. They have many options but always fresh!
