★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We just finished our meal at Mahache and it has been the best, most fresh food we have had in the island. We had the skirt steak which was tender and cooked medium rare. I wish I could make skirt steak like this at home! We also had the garlic grouper which was perfectly seasoned, grilled and had some dipping butter to moisten it up. The grilled veggies were also so good.
We enjoyed a fresh, grilled and very flavorful dinner at Mahache. We may come back again tomorrow to try the curries. Also the rose was perfectly balanced, dry and wonderful with the fish. The live music was relaxing, fun and a nice break from the loud electronica on the main drag.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ EXCELLENT food, drinks and service. High quality ingredients and good atmosphere. Offers a variety of menu items in appetizers and entre's. Don't allow the face of the place to fool you. Although the outside is humbly simple, the inside is quality. It also features artwork of local artist on the walls and a small gift shop where artists work are displayed sold. On select dates there is also live Jazz music available.
We had a group of 9 people and did not have reservations for dinner but were still seated quickly and served in a very timely manner.
We dined there about halfway thru our stay on the island.. Dinner was so enjoyable overall, we all decided to have our last dinner on Isla Mujeres there again at the end of our stay! Prices are moderately high, but worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Incredible non-alcoholic drinks, mouthwatering food, wonderful service, pleasant live music, all at magnificent prices.
Located off the beaten path, this place is a whole in the wall GEM. If you’re looking for date night, look no further.
We visited here on Easter Sunday while wondering the streets of downtown Isla Mujeres, and decided to dine for dinner just after sunset. Our ever-so-kind waitress suggested our seating arrangements for they had a live blue jazz band playing soothing tunes all night long. This is definitely a place we will be coming back to if ever in the area.
Everything we ordered was incredible and we highly recommend:
DRINKS
(Non-alcoholic)
Pineapple island
La Chica Fresca
FOOD
Hummus with freshly made pita bread (included in every dinner meal)
Yellow curry shrimp
Arrachera
Chocolate mousse
PRICES
All for under $1000 mx peso

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’m still eating at the restaurant and I had to write the review immediately. The food is amazing. You can’t go wrong with a local artisanal beer, I liked the Pescaderos Blonde. My wife ordered the Paloma and thought it was amazing. The pulpo (octopus) appetizer is a must. My wife and I fought over the last piece. It paired really well with my beer selection. We also ordered the shrimp & fish tacos. I thought the tacos caribeños (fish tacos) were the best tacos in Mexico. They were so tasty I thought about ordering another set. The waitstaff were so nice and just easy going. If you have a chance and want to eat some place that’s not a touristy spot and massively busy with food slopped onto your plate then eat here, it’s very relaxed and the waitstaff plus food is extraordinary. Each dish was presented well and the flan dessert at the end was tasty and I don’t even like flan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mahache is an absolutely wonderful restaurant with a relaxed ambience, outstanding food, delicious drinks and unbeatable, friendly service. Aside from it being wonderful as is, they have such a great reputation that all other restaurants in town highly recommended them which is how we ended up sitting at their bar stools two nights of our vacation! Mario (owner) and Aldo (bartender) were extremely hospitable and we can’t wait to return. Must get their octopus for dinner and their espresso martini is out of this world. Thanks Mahache family :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best restaurants on Isla. From the ambience, live jazz music, hospitality of the wait staff (especially Roman!), and delicious food. Menu had wide range of options, and interesting fusion of known Mexican favorites. Grilled Octopus is a must! Lots of craft/artisanal beer

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great hidden gem away from the main drag but with really great food though. I haven’t had grilled octopus anywhere else as good as here. The owners are very accommodating and attentive, too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very good food but prices quite steep and unfortunately it’s served way too fast - we still hadn’t finished our starters before the plates removed and mains served. And the second we finished the last mouthful of mains the plates were removed. And it’s not like people are in line to get in and fill the table. To match the quality of the food and steep prices we’d love a bit more time to enjoy - and would easily have had more drinks. For the rest the place is neat with a good vibe and friendly staff
