Mamma Mia Ristorante Italiano - 63728 Sayulita

Delicious pasta. The bread is very sad. And didn't have any artesanal beers. It's worth it to just eat the pasta and get other stuff somewhere else.

On October 3 rd 2017, I attended Restaurant Mamma Mia in Sayulita for dinner with a friend. From the beginning, the waiter seemed to be in not the best mood, and showed a little bit of an attitude during dinner. Before ordering, I asked if he took Credit Cards, to which he said he did. When we finished or dinner, I asked for the bill, and decided to pay for it with my debit card, which their CC machine declined. The waiter was rude about it, and made expresions basically saying that “if we did not have any money, why would we order food?.” I pulled out another card, this time a credit card, which his machine “declined” and we went ahead and did the same with 2 other cards (total of 4) which where all “declined”, and he kept on getting more rude each time. I have lived in Sayulita for 11 years now, and fortunately run a successful and well know business in town. I offered to leave a business card, and ID, and go over first thing the next day, to pay for dinner, which he declined, and informed he was the owner of the restaurant, and wanted his money NOW. Ok, so, I told him I would head out to an ATM and bring him the cash, he was really rude, and said one of us had to stay there while the other went to the ATM, I did not feel comfortable with that and offered to leave an ID and my phone, which he declined. We where pretty upset by then, so we took of regarless of what he said, and went to the nearest ATM to get cash. Once we where comming back with the cash to pay him, I checked my phone, and noticed I had received an email from my bank confirming that I had been charged for the dinner, hence, I made it back to the restaurant to show him the email, so that there where no misunderstandings. Once at the restaurant, I showed him the email with the charge on my card, and he said he would not accept that, cause his machine was not recording it. Again, I offered a business card and told him we could both double check with our banks, and figure it out the next day (my business is 2 blocks from the restaurant), again he was rude and declined. By now, I was really upset, told him that as a business owner, and as a foreigner (he has an Italian accent), he should be more respectfull to his clients and to Mexican Nationals, and well, he said I should watch out because "something bad could happen to me", yikes, who is this guy?? As I was leaving, he grabbed a motorcycle helmet of one of the tables, and tried to hit me with it, however, other clients in the restaurant stood up and stopped him. We left, never invited to visit again, and I would tell anyone coming to visit or living in Sayulita, not to support businesses like this.

The service was great but the pizza fell short. We have eaten there before and it was ok. Not sure what the problem was and when I asked for parmesan cheese for my pizza they charged me for it. Really a Italian restaurant charging for parmesan!#! There is another Italian restaurant two doors south, we're going to go there next time we are out for a pie

Best italian food the four of us have ever had. Enjoyed the restaurant so much in 2015 when we stayed in Sayulita, that we took the 1.5 hr taxi ride from our hotel in PV to eat again. Everything is homemade and full of flavor. So good...

Amazing Italian restaurant ran by an Italian! Gluten free pasta was also great! Well priced. Good wine selection. Best meal of our trip in Sayulita.

Last Night, October 3rd I went to Mamma Mia with friends and witnessed a really sad situation. I watched the waiter going off on a customer, he totally lost his temper and attacked the customer. The whole time I was there the waiter seemed to be in a bad mood. He had an angry face. His attitude, in my opinion, it is not acceptable. He should not treat people at work or even out of work, in life, like that. I watched it and heard it all and he had no reason to act like that. The customer, who he went off on, kept his cool even though it was clear that he was being unfairly treated. I went to the bathroom to leave the place and left my helmet on the table, when I came back the angry waiter had my helmet on his hand and he was hitting things (wall, tables, and he actually hit the customer too) with it. Besides hitting things and the customer he was also yelling (saying bad words), once I got out of the bathroom the waiter left my helmet on a table, He took out his apron/money pouch and threw it on the floor (note: he had a bunch of things in it, including his cell phone, which I saw falling from it and sliding on the sidewalk. Unbelievable. I have never seen, in person, Live, a situation like that, and his expression, his attitude, his words, made me scared and sad at the same time) He wanted a fight. The customer never reacted. Some customers that were there at the moment were trying to hold him. The customer attacked, after trying to talk to the waiter, gave up, (of course, there was no talk there) watched the show without reacting (I believe in shock) , left advised by some friends. I grabbed my helmet and left too. By the way, My BROKEN helmet. Yes he broke it :( I just noticed on my way home. I had nothing to do with it. Ended up watching a terrible scene and going home with my expensive helmet broken :( DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN and if that guy (the waiter) is there I am not even walking on that sidewalk. Crossing the street. Scary :(

Food was excellent. I got the Mahi Mahi with salad and it's an awesome healthy option. Everyone loved their pasta though so I'd recommend getting it all. GET THE BOOZY ICED COFFEE AT THE END you won't regret it. Red wine was a little too cold for my taste and service was good but not outstanding. Hence 4 stars.

The pasta was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. However, I didn't like when after I ordered they explained what kind of bread they have and didn't make it clear it is an additional charge. Most meals I have had recently came with a few pieces of garlic bread. I did not realize I had ordered the garlic bread from the appetizer menu for 80 pesos and it was a huge basket, way too much for one person. So I would have never knowingly ordered it. The servers should be clear about this. Afterwards I left thinking they were being sneaky and trying to increase the bill. I will never go back.
