The hotel was cute, 10 minute walk from town and a swimable beach. The beds were awful. Thin and incredibly hard. Recently recovering from a surgery we were excited to get away on a relaxing vacation. We didn’t get any sleep with the uncomfortable beds and how the rooms were not sound protected what so ever. We confronted the staff about our bed wondering if there was another option. They informed us all beds were the same and they were willing to refund us the rest of our stay if we wanted to relocate. Very nice of them to offer so we took them up on the offer so we could comfortably enjoy our stay. When we noticed our refund on our statement they had only refunded us 2 out of the 5 nights. 2 of which we stayed. So they decided to keep an extra nights stay without telling us. After addressing them with what we thought was a refund mistake on their end, they said they decided to only refund us 2 nights and wouldn’t do anything about it. This is completely unacceptable, and you should have been honest up front about what you were willing to refund. Don’t be fooled by their instagram aesthetic. The rooms were very basic, uncomfortable, the toilet had a constant leak and there was poo falling from the ceiling directly on our beds. I love the idea of an echo lodge, but if I’m paying a premium price I have higher expectations.

Place was beautiful, off the main street so quiet, and the food was wonderful. Recommend Avocado toast!!

Great place for quick tapas, and excellent Piña Coladas. We weren't staying there but it didn't seem to be an issue. Everyone spoke really good English and were very friendly.

My partner and I recently spent three wonderful nights at Maraica. The second we walked into the property, we instantly felt relaxed. The lush gardens, ocean views and palm-thatched rooves oozed tropical vibes. Our room was beautiful, with a simple tropical design, stunning ocean view, comfortable hammock on the balcony, extremely comfortable bed and pillows and a blissfully hot, high-pressure shower which isn't common everywhere in Mexico! The rooms don't have airconditioning, but this wasn't a problem at all. The design of the rooms and the ocean breeze keeps them cool, and there were ceiling and pedestal fans if we required them. The Wifi doesn't reach the rooms deliberately, to encourage guests to unplug and disconnect, and whilst it would have been nice to have, the forced time away from work and our phones was refreshing. The on-site restaurant Muvieri was an absolute highlight! They serve fresh, healthy food such as smoothie bowls, avocado toast, poke bowls and salads at a really affordable price. Usually, we prefer to eat outside of the resort, but we didn't want to miss any meals at Maraica they were so good! We spent our days doing yoga on the stunning yoga deck (mats provided), lounging by the pool which was never too busy, and watching the sunset over the ocean from our balcony. It really is a place to relax and recharge, and the atmosphere matches that. The sustainability initiatives at Maraica is what attracted us to the hotel and we were impressed with their environmental consciousness. The property is not only powered with solar power, there is also a strong desire to conserve power by removing unnecessary appliances such as air conditioners and televisions. Wastewater from the property is recycled and reused for the gardens. And you won't find a single-use plastic item anywhere. Bathroom products are organic, and locally sourced in refillable bottles. There are filtered water stations with glasses all over the property, eliminating the need for plastic bottles. And no styrofoam, straws or plastic cutlery is used in the restaurant! All in all, a relaxing and rejuvenating stay at Maraica. We highly recommend it.

Had such a lovely and relaxing stay at Mariaca hotel. First, I loved that it was an eco-hotel - they use solar power, reduce waste, compost and most of the food from their restaurant is grown in their farm or with local producers! Next, the room was lovely. With big windows and sliding doors, it felt like we were constantly connected to nature. Falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing. Waking up with the rays of light bouncing in the room. Swinging in the hammock on the balcony. It was so magical. Having the pool there was amazing for the hot days in the sun. And the beach, about a minute away was perfect. The restaurant was also amazing - they had so many great vegan options for every meal. Plus, having wifi there, I was able to work remotely. I would have like to have wifi in the room too, but not having it allowed me to disconnect, which was nice too. I highly recommend staying here. It's such a great place with a great eco-friendly mission!

I absolutely loved my stay at hotel Maraica! My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting San Pancho and it surpassed our expectations! The rooms were so charming, real tiki style look to them! The beds were very comfortable, and had a ton of pillows, which I love! They also had the cutest balcony with a hammock and a view of the ocean. The rooms were also surprisingly not super warm, they have multiple fans, which we used during the day, but no need for them at night. The facilities were also great. The restaurant had amazing food! I had the tuna tartar and tuna steak for suppers and the smoothie bowl and avocado toast for breakfast and they were all really good. The restaurant has wifi, but it doesn't reach the rooms. That would have been nice, but it was also nice to disconnect when not sitting at the restaurant. The pool was very refreshing to have and the hotel is a 1 minute walk to a beautiful empty beach. Would absolutely stay here again if I ever come back to San Pancho.

Absolutely loved our stay at Maraica last week. The rooms were amazing with their ocean views and hammock on the balcony, the pool was super quite during the day and had some pretty special sunsets at night. The highlight for me was the restaurant on the property, amazing fresh and healthy meals and extremely reasonably priced meaning i didn't need to leave the hotel some days. I highly recommend this place to anyone coming to stay in San Pancho.

I have mixed feelings about the Maraica. I really wanted to love it. The setting is beautiful, the pool is nice and its lovely hearing the waves crash on the beach. The cleaning and restaurant staff are really nice and the food is good. The hotel is less than a block from a beautiful, quiet section of beach, but know that they do not have beach chairs or umbrellas and there are none for rent on that section of beach. The rooms are a nice minimalist esthetic with nice soaps, bedding and towels. There is no AC, but we did not find it necessary in February. The thing you should know about the rooms is that they are all connected to one another, and though the ceilings are high, there is an opening between each room separated by a mosquito net. This means that if your neighbor comes in late at night and turns on their light, light will stream into your room. If they talk, you will hear them. For us this meant that even though our neighbors were trying to be quiet, we could hear them talking at 1am, and heard their alarm at 6:30am. It also meant that we were constantly shushing out kids so that they wouldn’t bother our neighbors. Our room had was a gorgeous view of the ocean; however, my parents’ room, which was supposed to be deluxe, really wasn’t. It has a view of the parking lot and windows that needed to stay closed because they faced the path where everyone was walking. What made it ‘deluxe’ was a chair in the corner that my mother used to hold her suitcase, instead of the daybed / lounge chair shown in pictures. The room was also much smaller than what was shown online. My biggest complaint about the hotel is that they closed the restaurant for dinner without informing the hotel guests. I was traveling with two small children, and wanted to eat in on the night that we arrived after a day travel and the night we were leaving. I even emailed on the Thursday before arriving to confirm that the restaurant would be open and that I wouldn’t need reservations. They told me that it opens at 6:30 and I wouldn’t need a reservation. I was surprised to arrive Friday - the following day - to learn that it would be closed for the weekend. They assured me it would be open at 6:30 on our last night, but when we went to the restaurant, it was closed for a retreat they were hosting and we were told we could only eat later, at 8pm (too late for us with little kids). So we had to scramble at the last minute to make alternate dinner plans. This issue could have been so easily prevented with the tiniest bit of effort on their part. I believe that the restaurant was closed because they were hosting a yoga retreat. I think this place would be perfect for retreats- when you have someone else managing your meals and communication with the management, when you are likely grouped in one end of the resort with other people who are on similar schedules who won’t wake you up, and - most importantly - when you get a steep discount on rooms. For everyone else, this place is a little overpriced for the level of comfort and service that they provide.
