We met some friends for dinner at the restaurant in Belmond Maroma. We were running super late after finishing a tour with our guests and the kitchen stayed open for us! Everything was delicious from the wine until desert... and we had all 4 courses. The hotel is beautiful and if I did not live in the area, I would absolutely be booking a room in the hotel.

First : we are at the Riviera Maya for the tenth time, coming from Germany. This hotel is different to most of the others in this area. It is not as large as the hotels we visited in the last years. It's private, with much comfort. Nice to relax, no TV in the room, enough place to live in calm and private atmosphere. The rooms are clean, big bathrooms with separate toilet and separate shower. The personal is very friendly, specially at the bar and on the beach. The white strand is one of the best at this part of the coast with nice sunbeds. Breakfast was included, no buffet, but a la carte - real good quality. Dinner, wine is for extra charge -- most real expensive. Our only negative experience was on the last day. At our arrival Karla, the lady from the front desk asked for our departure time. We said 3 pm - it was no problem. One day before departure the same- everything was okay! So we told our friends to pick us up at this time. On leaving day we decided to sleep longer, enjoying the next hours at the beach till 3pm. But at 10am we got a call that we have to leave our room immediately. There is no good communication between the people at the front desk. My result: Five stars for the rooms, the stuff on the beach, in restaurants and in the bar, Five stars for the beach and the pool. Four stars for the quality of the food. One star less for the organization and communication at the reception.

Had a lovely stay at the Belmond Maroma. A quiet and relaxing hotel with a fantastic spa area. Also has bikes and tennis courts if you fancy some activity. Great beach access and restaurant in a beautiful setting looking out to sea. Could do with some more vegetarian or vegan options. Great staff as well!

Stayed in one of the private Villa. Beautiful and very select compound. I was just disappointed by how the whole staff of the compound treated us like undesirables and did zero effort to offer us services even if we could've payed for it. Don't really understand why they don't try to create a temporary membership deal with these private estates located inside their resort or advertise it at least. Bad business. The worse experience was not necessarily feeling observed and unwanted the whole time it was when paying at the restaurant for a 200 USD (overpriced for what it is) the server asked me why I was splitting the payment in half telling me "you can't pay with one card?" That question alone has so many wrong things about it, I study hospitality management and this is deplorable. Finally I had to divide the bill for him since he seemed to find that oh so complicated too and ask him if he didn't want his 200 USD to get him to do it. A circus and an arrogant one at that. Front desk and the young lady working at the spa were nice and caring and didn't try to make it obvious we weren't staying at the hotel proper, good to see some people are decent and understand their job.

Unbelievable experience. The staff was amazing, maybe the best part of the experience. The beach was pristine, and despite the bad weather, it was constantly well maintained. The spa was one of the best we have ever experienced, as soon as our first massage was over we booked another for the next day. The food was outstanding. Pibil tacos, mixed grill, guacamole, short rib, cricket guacamole, and breakfast quesadillas with freshly made tortillas were just some of the stand outs. The last minute trip to a nearby reef to snorkel was a great way to end the trip. One of the best resort experiences my wife and I have ever had, we will be back.

We spent 4 days at Belmond Maroma in mid-February. Such a lovely resort. Our room was spacious and quiet, beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. I felt at home immediately. The entire resort is beautiful; beautiful plantings, beautifully maintained, 3 lovely pools, an excellent gym, a spa that I did not use but which looked lovely. I don't recall ever having better food at a resort such as this. Breakfast was really exceptional; so many delicious fruit drinks---a different special one each morning---and, at the beach, a variety of snacks and drinks offered intermittently during each afternoon. Best of all, every single person who works at Belmond Maroma was kind, generous, happy, and helpful. They went out of their way to make our time---and everyone else's---there a wonderful experience. They could not be finer ambassadors for their country. Also, I want to make special mention of the woman---I think her name is Marine----who led our bike tour through the jungle property that is part of the resort. She shared with us much about her grandmother and her Mayan heritage and made our experience of Mexico memorable and important. The only negative I feel I should mention is that, at least for the duration of our brief stay, the Caribbean Sea at our doorstep, though warm, was full of seaweed and debris. I do not know if that was just the accident of our time there or whether it is something normal to the locale. The resort did its best to keep the beaches clean but it simply was no match for the tides. I would hope, since everything else was pretty close to perfection, that we were simply unlucky.

Best service, staff are warm and welcoming, you immediately are treated like family. The food is incredible at every turn. Ultimate luxury. Freddy's is the spot to be to make any even better than it already has been. The spa is incredible, one of the best I have been to in the world. Gorgeous rooms and so much to do on property.

I don’t have enough good things to say about the staff here. They are so kind and make an effort to call you by name during your stay, and they hustle! My favorite part was how authentic they try and stay to the local community and culture. The property is unapologetically Mexican from the food, the bath toiletries, the decor, everything. You will not find any misplaced themed restaurants here, like so many large resorts have. I recommend taking advantage of the amenities that are included in your stay. Since it is a higher price point these “freebies” really do go a long way.
