Mayafair Design Hotel - 77500 Cancún

Not the same as on the photos. Converted from former shopping mall into hotel. The rooms are former shops without windows. Terrible thing is - no windows. Very claustrophobic. Do not book it. I was trapped with non-refundable rooms. Lost $700.

This hotel right here is only looks, the customer service is trash!! I spoke to multiple people during my stay and they are all upset with the customer service for getting over charged. The problem that happened to me was when I checked in they stated breakfast was included when I went to breakfast they wanted to charge me 700 pesos and when I asked them about this issue they were talking to me in the rudest way. This is not how someone should speak to their customers. The lady in the front very very disrespectful looks nice at first but extremely sneaky. We had to call the police for them to let us out of the hotel. DO NOT RECOMMEND DO NOT RECOMMEND DO NOT RECOMMEND They will do anything to steal your money!!!

First off we were not told how the all inclusive worked there. They do not even have waters for the guest. They told us go next door to the oxxo. Our bedroom had the shower and toilet in one. Tub and sink in main area. Which is very weird to me. We found a huge cockroach in the room too. About 3” big. That wasn’t even my biggest concern since I know it’s Mexico and ground level. There was some sort of hot tub in the middle of a room that water was not warm and felt slimy. The workers were great. This place I think is for someone that wants to quickly lay there head there. My gf and I didn’t feel comfortable there at all. This is definitely not for families. I’m giving two stairs Atleast for the workers. Because they are trying.

Having extended my return flight, I decided to book 1 night at this hotel as my friends were staying there and said it was a decent cheaper option (I was staying at the Krystal Grand before this). A few days earlier I walked into reserve a room for my last full day in Cancun (feb 24) and paid by credit card. I explained very clearly to the clerks that I was booking a room for Feb. 24. They processed the booking and on Feb 24 I came to check in only for the manager to tell me that his staff booked me for Feb 20 instead - the day I walked in to make the actual booking. I explained this was a mistake and that I had clearly explained which night I wanted to book and that my friends (also guests of the hotel earlier that week) were present). The clerk simply didn't understand and wrote down the wrong date on the booking form. The manage absolutely refused to refund me and said its not there problem, and they have charged me for a night I never stayed at the hotel!!! I still stayed there my last day as I didnt want to waste my day looking for hotels, which of course they charged me for, and this room had no hot water at all and also the shower barely had enough water coming out of it. A COMPLETE AND UTTER DISASTER - The hotel manager on top of it yelled at me and threatened to not even book me a room for that day. AVOID THIS SCAM OF A HOTEL AT ALL COSTS.

This is the worst Hotel I ever booked! We arrived and were given a room that smelt so strongly of mould and damp we could not breathe, My adult daughter started having a very bed reaction to the mould. Her throat closed up and her eyes streamed water. She was coughing and gasping for air. None of the windows can open, and there is no ventilation at all. They offered us the only other room avaiable which smelt just as strongly. The bathrooms are in the middle of the bed room and the water goes everywhere. No wonder its so mouldy and damp. The rooms are a converted shopping mall and each room was obviously a small shop in the past. Not really suitable for a hotel room and no privacy either. I had no choice but to go look for another hotel on foot in the middle of the night. We had to move out within hours of arrival and the hotel refuses to refund our payment. We paid for 2 weeks in advance. The new hotel wanted to call an ambulance and my daughter was struggling to breathe so much she could hardly walk. Mayafair just ignore my calls and emails and continue to keep my money. A disgusting place!!!

Very mouldy smelling room! Staff was unprofessional and overcharged us. When other guests complained about also being overcharged and called the police, the management lied to the police when asked about a problem with a guest, while on the other hand told the guests that the police never came. Cleaners forgot to clean our room or provide towels. Waiters took 2hs to serve food every time, which was then served cold. Served an old and cold coffee, probably from the day before. No access to beach and very noisy guests. No security in house. Only book if location to clubs is important to you. Otherwise not worth the money.

DO NOT BOOK! Make yourself a favour a don’t book this „hotel”. It’s a scam and has nothing to do with being a hotel which by definition should be a place where you can get sleep. But forget about getting any rest during your stay here. This is a converted shopping mall, not succesfully converted. There is no walls, only thin panels. No windows in your „room”. Everyone can just walk in from the street into the building. Our room was opposite breakfast buffet (you could hear all the noise from 5:30 AM). We had to leave very early in the morning and look for a different hotel for rest of our stay. They won’t refund you any money. Once again, do not do it!!!

I would give it negative 10 stars if I could We booked multiple nights for our New Year's trip, fooled by the photos and rating on booking.com... Worst decision ever. The hotel was probably converted from a mall, but there's neither fashion nor function. It certainly has seen better days, and we felt like squatters living in an abandoned building. Multiple leaks throughout the premise. There's a jacuzzi in a hallway?! lol The first night there was no hot water. The third night the sink gave up working. Do yourself a favour and don't stay here please.
