★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely LOVED my stay here! Started off every morning with a delicious breakfast, I had Nutella crepes 3 out of 4 days and my friend had the pancakes, and they hit the spot every time. Lunch and dinner options are also fantastic. There’s so much to do here, you can hang at the beach, go kayaking, or just hang out at the pool! There’s a gentlemen named Enrique (Kiki) who sits out on the dock. He’ll take you snorkeling with sea turtles and stingrays for $60 (cash only). The hotel can also arrange for you to do activities like seeing the Mayan ruins, the cenotes, zip-lining, atv through the jungle and so much more. I’m looking forward to coming back to Tulum and staying here again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Restaurant is definitely worth a stop. Creative and delicious dishes with a just large enough menu. Great cocktails. Limited wine offerings but what they had was very good. Exceptional service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is a little gem. Familiar, very quiet, with not too many guests. The rooms are modern and clean and the staff is super friendly. You can lend SUPs, Kayaks, snorkelling equipment anytime and free of charge. The sea is amazing, perfect for snorkeling. Nacho the guy at the reception is amazing, has always a smile and tipps ready for your next trip. Would definitely reccomend this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We paid $365 per night for one of the beachfront rooms that are on the second floor (I think they’re better than the first floor ones because you have your own private balcony and more privacy). The hotel is small and cute but much too expensive for where it’s located (far from more popular areas of TULUM) The ride over feels a bit sketchy and the area around the hotel is empty and feels desolate. Because of the Seaweed issue in Tulum the beach was basically unusable!! They have men throughout the day working hard at clearing the seaweed from the beach but there’s just too much to handle. You can’t go into the water unless you use the pier, and when you do there are many rocks so going without protection isn’t an option. The water is much too dusty to see anything and the waves are too strong to enjoy it. Luckily they have a small lake just a few feet away from the hotel that you can go to (for $3) and snorkel / swim or Scooba dive. I suggest going later in the day when it’s not so busy.
The food at the restaurant is nice but nothing to write home about, cocktails are definitely lacking in alcohol and you should request a double shot when ordering any drink. Front desk staff were incredibly sweet and helpful but restaurant staff was a bit pushy for tips and very slow with service.
Definitely rent a car if you’re going to stay here, and forget about drinking and driving because it’s too far from any decent bars / restaurants / clubs. WIFI works well all the way to the beach, speeds of about 15mbps down and 5mbps up.
In conclusion I would not recommend it for this price. A hotel like this (in this location) should be $150 a night, but because you can’t really use the beach I don’t see the point of coming here at all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We really enjoyed our time in Mereva. We loved the laid back atmosphere. Great to have access to kayaks and snorkeling equipment. Location is a 15 minute drive to Tulum center which did not bother us as we had a car.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A mixed experience. Think about what kind of holiday you want before booking.
We stayed here for 3 days at the end of a 3 week holiday in Mexico looking for a chilled out vibe and somewhere we could just relax before getting our 10 hour flight home. It definitely delivered on that, but there were some aspects that given how much we were paying could have been improved.
If we were staying here for a longer time, we would've been bored and probably would have found the location inconvenient as it's very much outside of Tulum and difficult to get anywhere without your own transport. There's also no other decent restaurants around or local stores for snacks nearby. As others have mentioned nearest ATM is far away too.
The good:
- Lush settings in front of the beach. Watching the sunrise from a hammock on the pier in the mornings was a vibe
- Didn't have to fight anyone for use of the sun loungers on the beach
- Intimate setting, it's a small hotel so feels more boutique
- Free mini bar
- Friendly staff
- Free use of snorkel gear, kayaks and paddle boards
The not so good
- Food is not great. Presented well but we ended up ordering takeout one night and tried the restaurant Alea down the road which was slightly better
- We didn't have a sheet on our duvet cover. When they came to make up the room, they didn't give us one either. To be honest we should've asked for one but couldn't really be bothered as it was fine
- Felt like some of the staff were pressuring us for tips

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stopped for dinner 27 Mar 2022 with 12 friends. Asked the cook to order for me, as I will eat anything. He prepared the most wonderful sea bass wrapped in something green on a bed of the most flavorful rice I have ever had It was excellent. Everything else was good, the octopus very good. Service a little slow, but the drinks were worth the wait.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friends and I stayed here for New Years and it was the most amazing time! The staff was incredible, so attentive and helped us get safe taxis every night. We are 4 girls and felt safe and cared for the entire time. The food at the hotel was amazing and we ate alot of meals there. The beach in front of the hotel is so beautiful, secluded and serene and the hotel itself makes you feel like you’re in paradise, it’s been better in person than in pictures. Lots of amazing spots for pictures! We are already planning our trip back! I would recommend Tulum and Mereva to anyone!
