IT IS A SCAM! Don't go! They will find any excuse to charge you more. And always no car available, even tho you paid for it already. i rent with them for my whole trip to mexico and i had problem with ALL my reservations. Don’t rent a car here! The front desk people are rude and dont try to help at all, even refuse to say for the call center that they didnt have my car, so i could get my refund back, and i bagged for help! That is how they will treat you.

DO NOT USE ONLINE BOOKING!!! I was annoyed because I booked through Kayak (Expedia) and that was extra expensive. When I came I spoke with Poncho, he was super kind and helpful. He was apologetic we got charged extra online, and told us to book through their call in service instead. I appreciate that, good service will win my business every time. To management, try to get your customers to book through you to avoid these hidden fees. Give them a coupon for this annoying experience.

Very great service and super nice! Came on a trip with my family and friends. Very great prices as well, did not try to scam us nor add extra charges. Don’t let the bad reviews scare you. Thanks to the young female who helped us out.

Mex Car Rental was recommended by a resident of the condo complex we where staying at and the rental experience was excellent. We walked into the rental office by the Puerto Vallarta Airport and was greeted by Poncho the car rental agent. He speaks very good english and explained the procedure in detail and answered any of our questions. He booked us a car for the following day and gave us a copy of the booking details with no deposit. The next day we arrived to pick up our rental car and was greeted at the counter by Liz who also speaks very good english. She processed the paper work and got us on our way in short order. When we returned the car it was a very easy process of an attendant checking the car over and sending us to the office were Liz completed the paper work and reimbursed our deposit. I would highly recommend this rental location. Before I rented here I checked 4 other rental companies in the same location and this one had the best rates.

This place is a scam. They charged us $100 usd extra at the end claiming something from UNDER the car was missing. (WHICH WAS A TOTAL LIE because they never checked under the car) The guy at the desk Luis Felipe was not nice at all. They gave us a completely smaller car than what we asked for and tried to charge us the same. The first car they gave us had a spider nest under the door handle. Ew. Honestly should have reserved from Hertz or Sixt. Anything. You are better off renting a Uhaul and not get scammed.

Don’t believe the haters!!! Book directly through their website. It’s absolutely no hassle and affordable. It isn’t cheap, per se, but its honest. So many bad reviews are people complaining they made arrangements with a third party (kayak) and they somehow blame THIS company for it?! Pique entitled. Yuck. The last time I rented a car in MX it was traumatizing with feeling scammed left and right. Booking through their website couldn’t have been smoother. Your credit card insurance is insufficient in Mexico. Get over it. There’s plenty online about it–stop taking your aggression out on hard working Mexicans. You need full coverage–the kind you would never get at home. And, yes, they are meticulous about damage to vehicles. So take care of the car!!! Watch those speed bumps. Watch for scratches.

After having a fine checkout experience with this company we felt that we were completely defrauded upon return of the vehicle. Cresencio Beltran Bazan was the agent we worked with and claimed that a miniscule scratch on our windshield necessitated $140 USD in damage payment to Mas by Mex. Where did he come up with this number? That is unclear - after speaking with 2 other coworkers quietly for about 1-2 minutes this is the number we were given for the estimate. The scratch was so small it could barely be seen, and could not be photographed. It very well could have been there when the car was picked up and missed by all parties when the car left their lot. Frankly, it felt like Cresencio Beltran Bazan did this frequently to customers returning rental cars, and I got the impression that the entire organization was in on this scam. We purchased full protection through Expedia and are claiming through them, but there is no reason that this damage claim should have ever been needed. The car was returned without visible damage and it feels that we were, without question, defrauded by this company and Cresencio Beltran Bazan.

The hardest thing to review is rentals it seems to be an ongoing horror story! I personally think that dealing directly with Mex was a winning combination. Upon returning my month-long rental I inquired on a two week rental they were extremely accommodating and actually prepared the car I had just returned. I do believe the biggest problem that the consumer has with any rental is with third-party agencies. Renting is a complicated business with insurances, repairs and maintenance. I truly believe that Mex puts their best foot forward in striving to achieve quality service and customer satisfaction. Muchas Gracias!
