Mex Rent a Car - 77565 Cancún

Hard to believe I gave this place 5 stars. Car rental in Mexico is truly like pulling teeth. It is the WORST part of visiting Mexico. This time however, no excuses, no raising the rate, no exorbitant charges. We were in and out just like a USA rental company in 10 minutes. The return was just as easy. And, the vehicle was very clean and in great shape with absolutely NO ISSUES. Next year, we will be back

Strange as it may seem, it was okay. I've read all that bad reviews and I consider myself lucky. Yes, I had to wait for about 40 minutes in the line and 30 minutes more before the car was ready. Yes, meanwhile they tried to give me another one, more expensive, and charge another $200 for it. BUT. When I declined, they did not insist. They did not try to sell me another insurance besides of what I had already. The car they gave to me had some scratches, but they documented it all in a protocol and I made photos. The drop-off was quick, they drove me to terminal 3 in their shuttle and they returned my deposit within 2 days. And these people where nice. So, for the price I paid it was allright.

We were 1 hour (after waiting in line for 30 min)late because of the time change from isla mujeres so they rented out our "reserved" vehicle an of course the only replacement was an extra $40 per day. Won't be using them again

EDIT: SCAM STAY AWAY!!!! HIDDEN FEES!!! You will only figure it out too late! Asking for $500 of car insurance on top of what you already paid online. They will ask you to sign a waiver and be responsible for up to $14000 if you decline the insurance. Insurances are not more expensive than the USA it’s a scam! Go somewhere else please. We booked from a third party but our flight got canceled and we arrived one day late, it was our first time in Mexico and we were a bit intimidated. Aaron at the office was very friendly and took great care of us the whole time. I see bad reviews and this is why I insist on giving details. They have a shuttle at the airport , the driver was so welcoming and I appreciated the warm welcome as a first experience in the country, a lady in the shuttle who was visiting Cancun again mentioned she had tried different rental companies and this one was the most trustworthy she knows and affordable and that they won’t rip you off. Diego was giving us great tips while waiting for the car. Great first experience overall!

Kind of have mixed feelings about this place. Booked my car online and paid for the insurance but when we got there they told us that we had to buy their insurance. Then I booked an economy car but said I had to take a mini or pay $20 a day extra. The guy at the register was actually very nice and accommodating. He went ahead and gave us the the upgrade. But I swear it took hour to get our car. With that said the car selection is quite massive and the cars are very clean. I guess I would use them again next time just hope the process goes smoother.

STAY AWAY!!! FRAUD! Stay away from Mex. If you book with them and pay, it may still be possible for others to get your car if their wallet is big enough. I do not know how other car rental operators operate in Cancun, but Mex = fraud. This was also confirmed by local workers / guards at the airport. Got confirmed that we were to be picked up by bus to our rental car. Would take about 25 min. After 1 hour and 5 minutes, the driver comes with the message that we do not get a car because they are empty.4 hours at the airport with 3 kids in the middle of the night, I do not wish for anyone. Unfortunately taxi for us to tulum and big changes in the holiday plan. 3 others at the same time as us who had the same problem. NO CAR. I do not take this case lightly and a lawyer is on the case. MEX = NO GO!

We THOUGHT we had a good deal on price… Due to line in the airport AND A LINE IN CAR RENTAL OFFICE (which stretched outside the doors) we did not make it on time for our reservation. Our reserved car was given to someone else and we were left with option to pay double the price for another one or go try our luck with different rental. Rented car had a bug cemetery in the back, either for protection from evil spirits or just as a souvenir. Will not recommend and will not use their service again.

Always a pleasure dealing with the staff at Mex rent a car ! Yes lines can get long but they have 5-7 employees trying to get through the line! I’ve used them for over the past 4-5 years when Visiting Mexico and they have always taken care us . Once the car had a issue they put me into another car immediately. This last time I rented a 2022 Dodge Journey and it was awesome. I would definitely recommend them!
