Mia Bacalar Luxury Resort & Spa

After spending a few days in a treehouse, Mia Bacalar with their cold AC and indoor shower was exactly what I needed! I enjoyed every minute of my stay - so much so that I spent an extra two nights there. The food was great, the grounds were lovely and relaxing, the room was well appointed, and the staff was super helpful. The food is overpriced for the area, but convenient, delicious, and has a wonderful view of the lagoon. I’d also like to give a special shout-out to Rommel who brought me room service during a terrible storm. Carlos and Pedro in Hunab Ku were awesome as well. I would 100% recommend.

Visited to use the restaurant. The food was really good, but one of my company found a piece of plastic wrap in the food. After that they quickly provided services and tried their best to replace it to new dish. We couldn't have any more of it because we were so full(REALLY DELICIOUS), and they replaced the new food to free drinks. We were all very satisfied! We were a team of local and foreigners, and the local friend of mine that is a chief loved the dish very much. Highly recommended.

Checked out a day early. No hot water. Bleached smelly bedsheets. Worst experience ever. I don’t know how they received these “good reviews”. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Mia in bacalar this September 2021. And from the reservation to check out we had the worst experience. 1. Upon reservation the representative quoted me a price which I agreed to pay. He charged me for the first night and I was able to pay the remainder upon arrival. I received the confirmation voucher from MIA and notice the amount was higher than what was quoted over the phone upon booking. Thankfully I caught this and called back right away. I told them this is not right. You can’t quote a price. Charge me for the first night and then increase the price. I asked how come the price is different the MIA rep responded “sorry miss I’m not sure but I can’t change the amount in the system” after 30 minutes on the phone I told him to cancel my reservation and he replied “ok let me see what I can do” finally he called back and told me he can’t cancel because the transaction processed but he brought the price down. At this point I was frustrated. How does a company agree on a price but change it after they charge the first night deposit. Anyway. Since the hotel had good reviews I wanted to stay here. So I just said ok. From $200usd over the agreed upon quote down to $20usd after 45 minutes of arguing. 2. We arrived and yes the room was nice but quality of bedsheets and pillows were disgusting. It smelled like bleach and was so hard!! My husband is not one to complain and we couldn’t believe we paid close to $600/ night. 3. THERE WAS NO HOT WATER!!! I called at least twice a day for 3 days asking about hot water. They kept saying it would be fixed in an hour. Then finally they wouldn’t even give me an answer. To pay 600 a night for NO hot water. We left a day early because I could not take showering in cold water. 4. Also for a luxury resort attracting tourist, you would think they would have some staff to speak A little bit of English in order to order room service. I think there was one gentleman one night who was able to get my order down. However half the items on their room service menu wasn’t available. 5. Finally checking out. The staff accused us for drinking on of the bottle of wine or liquor I wasn’t sure. I assured them look we would pay if we drank ur mini bottle of liquor. $20 is not something we would lie about. We’re paying $600 a night and leaving a night early because it’s so horrible here. What makes you think we care about $20 and would not lie about drinking from your underwhelming mini bar. Finally the staff said ok 6. The worst part of this is the customer service was horrible. If I was the hotel and I had a customer leaving a day early I would at least ask how come they are leaving. Was there any issues with your stay. UMM yes!!! NO HOT WATER since I arrived and I’ve been called everyday. At least comp us one of our room service. What is $50 compared to a bad review. And us shivering and showering in cold water. To summarize. Absolute garbage resort. No hot water. Sheets smell like bleach and super hard. Half of Room service menu not available. Oh and take pictures of your mini bar everyday before they accuse you of taking things. don’t be fooled by the time photos. Maybe before covid they were good but now. Horrible. Save your money go to another resort.

Only ate breakfast at the restaurant as we stayed at a nearby Airbnb and could kayak to the resturant. Would recommend the food and service was excellent. Had some great local breakfast food (Sopes were amazing!)

Wonderful hotel located in the forest that allows you to feel the sensation of starting the day with the sound of nature. This hotel has a nice pier ideal for taking wonderful pictures of the "Laguna de los 7 Colores"

Basically far far overpriced for what it is. It’s an old poor executed four star hotel with five star prices. Witnessed hotel workers not washing their hands leaving the guest bathrooms, constantly ran out of things on the menu, never and hand towels in any bathroom, etc I could go on. It’s not a bad place, it’s just not polished or executed properly to be a luxury experience

What a lovely, small resort right on the shores of the Laguna. It feels like luxury without being pretentious. The room was truly luxurious, impeccably clean with a huge shower and bathtub, double vanity, and extremely comfortable bed. We accidentally walked in on the staff cleaning our room on our second day and got to see first hand how utterly thorough they were. There is a lovely small pool with plenty of chairs/beds and a gorgeous view of the Laguna. The swings in the shallows are a cute touch. The resort is a ten minute drive from the town so you don’t feel stuck to the resort campus. This was our first real experience at a resort and it has set our standard!

Had a fantastic visit to Mia Bacalar. I highly recommend a stay here. The property is absolutely beautiful. The service was great. The food was wonderful down at the main restaurant, with a beautiful view across the lake. There are hammocks and chairs to lay out on. There are jet skis to play on. The spa was equally wonderful. I recommend some time in the sauna and then a quick dip in the small cold pool they have right next to it for a true sauna experience. It was a great way to spend a weekend and I look forward to coming back.
