Excellent upper tier restaurant. A classy option with gourmet food in Bacalar. The music was a bit too loud for my taste, as well as the choice of music was not the best. Portions were generous and the recipes were adventurous. A recommended choice in Bacalar.

Great decor & attentive service but the food itself lacks creativity, it’s edible but not memorable. Pricy place, probably the most expensive in Bacalar. For this price tag, I’d expect amazing food, which is not the case, I’m afraid. At the end of the dinner they offered a marquesita, which was a nice touch.

The most upscale gourmet venue in Bacalar downtown most likely. Do not expect low priced menu items but you get top notch service. Our waiter, Mr. Edwin was very professional and attentive.

This place is so good, we literally came back 3 more times. The meat, starting with the picanha tacos, the tomahawk or the beef rib are delicious. On top of that, the service is simply stellar ! Edwin has been attending us all 4 evenings, put a smile on our face each and every time :)

After reading numerous great reviews about this restaurant, we booked a reservation here for our 25th wedding anniversary dinner. Upon arrival for our 7:30pm reservation, we noticed we were the only customers seated in the restaurant and that we were seated in the bar area where the music was pretty loud and more suitable for a nightclub (not the type of music we were expecting for our special occasion). I did ask our waiter if they could lower the music a bit, which they did, but with the music still in the background, it was not feeling like the atmosphere we wanted to remember our dinner by. We asked for a wine menu and wanted to know about white wines available by the glass. Instead of a menu, our waiter brought out 3 different bottles of wine (all opened). I asked about prices per glass and the waiter was unsure, so he left the table to go check, then returned with prices, which just added to the level of uncomfortable feeling we were experiencing, so we decided it was time to go find a different restaurant. We had read earlier some great reviews about another restaurant in town, Nixtamal, and ended up going there for our special dinner. We had a wonderful meal and experience in a beautiful, romantic atmosphere with live, soft Mayan music. We ended up having some delicious seafood dishes (plus a bottle of wine, appetizers and desserts), and were not disappointed. Reading all of the reviews about Montefuego, I believe the food there is probably really delicious, but the environment was not delivering the right ambiance for us on our special occasion, so that’s the reason why we decided to leave.

Amazing cocktails, great music, it is a heaven of good well made food in Bacalar, remind me a bit of Origen at Oaxaca. Octopus grilled super soft and with that Mexican kick, mouth watering catch of the day (red snapper), super moist and well seasoned pork pibil…. all exquisite, got to meet the chef. Edwin our server super helpful. We visited the place twice in our one week visit to Bacalar, would definitely come back in our next visit…

Best dinner so far in Mexico. Food presented like 5 stars and tasting super delicious. The service from Demien was like proper fine dining and he explained everything to us with no rush and with excellent knowledge. I couldn't reccomend this place more.

The perfect choice!! It could be the best, but definitely one of the best restaurants in my life! Perfect ? welcoming, quality service, and extremely tasteful food! The menu is available in English too, the staff speak English also, and very friendly and professional! Reasonable price, great choices, and good portions! U can't miss out if you're visiting or near Bacalar!!
