This place is truly breathtaking. The gorgeous entry is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Entry is free and they offer guided tours for those interested in the history of the house. If you’re more interested in photos i would recommend doing a self guided tour as it was a bit tricky to get decent photos when you’re crammed in a room full of other tourists. Bonus: it’s air conditioned!

Don't miss this museum, with beautifully preserved interiors and its dramatic facade. On a very warm day it is a great place to walk in the cool interior and learn about its rich history.

Complete misunderstanding. The visit took more less 10 minutes. There was a guy who didn't let us watch the exhibition in our own time - he was hurrying up those who wanted to take a closer look or shouting at those who were less interested in that certain place and wanted to move on. And children under 8y.o. must be carried by the hand by the parent even if they are walking calmly and not touching anything. ??? If not the second part of the exhibition (the art part) it would have been a total waste of time.

Not much of a museum to be honest. It takes about 2 minutes to walk through and has no signs or plaques to describe anything. It is also a bit weird that half of it is now a bank. But hey, it's free I guess and it's quite lovely to look at for 5 minutes if you're passing by.

A gem in the middle of the city. It reminded me of Hearst Castle in California. Why not 5 stars? Eventhough the museum is free, I felt rushed

Cool art to check out if you have some down time in Merida! Also free & doesn’t take up too much time.

Former house of the city's governor, which had to be sold by the family after several generations and is now in possession of the Mexican National Bank. The villa was restored and is now available for public for free. Note the exhibition opens at 11am - before only the bank terminal housed inside is accessable.
