$81p per person and we spent about 3.5 hours here and we read everything they had. There were English translations for everything. Very creative museum that really brought to life the Maya belief that everything is connected, through the gods, sky, Earth, and the underworld. Well constructed and well thought out presentation of Maya culture. Really informative, nicely done.

The Museum was closed for no apparent reason. The two stars are for the interesting modern art displays we were able to view, but was really disappointed otherwise.

This museum is small, but its decoration and style tries to make you feel as if you were in the jungle. The price, however, is a little more expensive for foreigners. I consider it a well-preserved and cheap museum to learn about the ancient Maya culture, but it needs a guide for foreigners. Although it is small, the way things are sorted out, tend to make you get lost and you may miss something.

I really liked this museum! In otherwise depressing Chetumal this was a total refreshment! Yes, the museum has downsides like really bad lightning (probably the worst I have ever seen :D ) and copies of artefacts, but it`s really interestigly done: big murals, fake giant trees in the museum, everything explained in English, details I haven`t seen in Maya museums before, a great depiction of middle, upper and underworld (you have to go floor down to see the underworld and floor up to see the upperworld part!), together with an awesomely creepy sound in the underworld area which is heard in the whole museum and you constantly wonder: what is it, what is it?! :) I like how the explanations are written in first face plural, making a whole experience very personal, like Mayas themselves are talking to you! The museum is obviously under construction (nothing distracting), as we have seen workers doing some major fixing and painting + in the outside patio a huge mural is being drawn right now on all four surrounding walls and since almost half is finished, I can tell you it looks awesome! Also, outside a house can be seen as a depiction of how folks lived in that time, at what types of houses etc. All in all, a really nice surprise! Thanfully the AC is not so strong and you don`t get shocked by the temperature difference + the information: we payed an entrance fee of 106 pesos per person for foreigners.

I’m not a museum expert but I really enjoyed my time here. Very interesting and the dim lighting creates a mysterious atmosphere. Most of the exhibits are reproductions but it was all very nicely presented. There is also an outdoor area featuring a recreation of a jungle village as well as side galleries with modern art.

I found it interesting and was quite pleased with the whole museum. I enjoyed the models of the cities the most. It has a nice outdoor space surrounded by art work which we both enjoyed too. Not a huge museum, but a must visit if in Chetumal. The staff were very pleasant and we had a nice quiet, go at our own speed tour.

Probably the highlight of our visit to Chetumal. For 110$ MXM you get a relatively small but well equipped museum. It spans the entire indigenous history in the region. There's artefacts, modeled cities,. sculptures and animations. There's well written English descriptions everywhere. Interesting for both adults and children.
