★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Watch out for the scam. And especially Jairo. We rent a car for 7 days. After 4 days, the car, which was already in a pity state, was totally ruined.
Indeed, things were hanging below the car and se couldn’t drive anymore.
We asked for assistance and after 24 hours …. There was still no one to pick-up. So we went to a mechanic and paid to fix the car.
National had promised to reimburse us for everything …. What they obviously didn’t do. They told us it was all our fault.
In conclusion, run.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Watch out for Jose the shuttle driver as he attempted to steal my luggage. When I was returning the car, the shuttle dropped me off at the terminal and then left with all of my luggage still in the van whilst I went to get a trolly. I was the only person in the shuttle so he definitely knew it was mine, and I had 5 pieces so couldn’t have missed them...
It took 30 mins and multiple phone calls for his manager to get him to return and all he said was ‘don’t worry’.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had no issues renting here. Everything went smoothly. There are lots of shuttles to and from the airport so I didn't have to wait long to get a ride to the terminal. Employees spoke great English. I would rent here again.
Update:
I did rent here again and it was the same great experience. I wouldn't rent anywhere else in Cancun.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have to say this is likely the best rental experience I've had. I heard about bad experience in Mexico. But this one is quite smooth. It might be just luck as the person who took care of me, Jesus, was wonderful. He was very clear, detailed and polite. The 5 stars is because of him.
There are a couple of things though: 1. I arrived at T4. Unlike other rental companies, Enterprise doesn't have a shuttle circling around. You need to ask the person at the counter in Terminal to call the shuttle. Otherwise you will wait forever. I waited for 30 minutes and called the companies 3 times. 2. When I returned the car, they told me I didn't filled the tank full although I just did at the station across street. I pointed it out and they fixed it.
Overall, small things you need to be careful but Jesus made up for all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I always rent thru national. Just one of the best out there and always have a great experience. This time however I was not impressed. The general staff were amazing but the car was semi functional. I did rent the lowest tier so I sure wasn't expecting much. But when I went to shift into 2nd gear and the boot flies off what do you do? I was already running late and I didn't have time with the traffic to head back so I just drove it. I was able to reassemble it but it became an annoying part of my trip. The USB port was also broken.
