Everything closed, we weren't even allowed to walk in forest. Unhelpful people hysterically scared by Covid-19 creating their own laws. Terrible experience and wasted time

Did not book a tour with these guys. Just went to get some information. This place is crazy expensive. 350$ per person for 3 days - or you just avoid these guys and do it by yourself for a fraction of the price.

The operators at the office are very friendly and speak very well English. We got some recommendations for a one-day trip suited to our wishes. We misunderstood the depart time and missed our car to Benito Juárez and they were very forthcoming and a for a negligible fee rescheduled us to the following day. In Benito Juárez we were met by a guide waiting for us. We speak very little Spanish, but he did his very best to explain and was a very good guide. The nature was beautiful and the views breathtaking. When our tour was finished and we arrived at the village we were brought to a nice small restaurant with a full stove and were asked what we would like. After we were finished with the delicious meal and we were ready to go a car picked us up and took us to our hotel. Nice and friendly people and well organized. Only regret is not going for a trip for more days. January 2019.

I couldn’t recommend enough this company. It’s not only a eco tourism company but a whole social project for Pueblo’s Mancomunados. The guides and all those involved in the experience are very kind, knowledge, accommodating and respectful. I did a 3 day hiking with overnight at two different towns and it was fantastic. The accommodations and food surpassed my expectations.

Would highly recommend booking a tour as a means of exploring the gorgeous Sierra Norte and the lovely Pueblos Mancomunados. The packages offered by this office seem to be the only way for outsiders to access the towns in the wake of the pandemic. We communicated with the office through email and then WhatsApp in Spanish, Elisa was very helpful and responsive. Only Cuajimoloyas and Lachatao were open to visitors at the time of our visit (early April '22) so we went with a 2D/1N package in Cuajimoloyas including 2 long hikes. All meals and accommodations were taken care of, the cabin was super nice and the food was really hearty, all locally-grown (and there was a lot of it!). The hospitality of the people was incredible, they even started a wood fire in the cabin for us which was really special. I speak passable Spanish but we opted for the English tour and were really glad we did because our translator Janet was awesome and we got so much out of talking to her about the town and its traditions as well as random conversations about life in Oaxaca in general. We also had other local guides for each of our hikes who shared a lot of cool knowledge about medicinal plants on the way. Very neat to hear about and see the eco-friendly way the town and its agriculture is run. The price was pretty high by Mexican standards (around 4500MXN per person for our package including transportation, during prepandemic times you could probably just go and do the hikes/accommodations on your own for much less) however I felt very comfortable paying for the quality of hospitality and smooth arrangements as well as supporting the community (the company is run very locally and all the resources stay in the Pueblos).

We really enjoyed doing a day trip in April 2022 to the Sierra Norte with this community run group. We felt very well looked after from start to finish; a taxi collected us from Oaxaca, then we walked with two local guides (one of whom spoke great English), and finally had a delicious cooked lunch in one of the mountain villages. We really enjoyed speaking with all the guides and learning about the communities who live there, while the walk itself covered some beautiful forest, mountains and lakes. We would highly recommend.
