Great way to spend a couple of hours, watching flamingos and many other birds and wildlife. The tour is not organised well and you need to find enough people to fill a boat (6 will do it), otherwise it isn't cheap. The tour is only an hour or so, and it would be nice if there were some longer routes.

Although Celestún is just 80 kilometers away from Merida, traffic is heavy getting out of Merida, so it takes 1.5 hours to arrive. As soon as you cross the bridge over the Ría, which is an Estuary, you where thousands of Flamingos reside, you find a docking area where all the boats that take you to visit the birds, manglares and water hole, are parked. These trips are done using a motor boat that can take about 6-8 people. You must do the tour before 3:30, as at this time all the flamingos that are standing in the estuary fly away to rest in the manglar forest. It is recommended to visit the site early in the morning, as at this time very few people are at the water hole and it is crystal clear, later with the number of visitors it gets blurry.

Amazing flamingo tours with many other birds as well. We even saw a few crocodiles. Definitely worth the cost. The boat was $1800 MXN.

Id give 5 stars, if they would group people to fit in boats instead of asking for 1800 pesos for the whole boat. Just wait in a parking lot for a little while for more peopld to showup if there only 1 or 2 of you. We waited for 15-20mins. The boat ride it self was very good. Saw flamingos, birds, crocodile. Beautiful place to visit for sure.

I was pretty skeptical about this 1.5 hr tour but still decided to do it. Had to wait to fill up the boat with 6 adults (300 pesos each). It was actually really awesome and didn’t feel rush. We enjoyed the 10000 flamingos for 20 minutes then went into the mangrove tunnel and the agua de ojo. Highly recommend. Beautiful light when you leave after 3pm

It was nice that my daughter and I didn't have to share the boat with anyone. It was an enjoyable boat tour but too short for the amount that was being charged. We visited in May and there wasn't nearly as many flamingos as we were hoping to see but that was my fault for not checking the peak months... there was a crocodile near the area we were supposed to swim at so we passed up on that opportunity.. they didn't accept card or American cash so we had to get money out of the ATM which was inconvenient. It was a cool little adventure but meh, not a must see.

Great little spot to take a motor boat tour of the river and mangrove. We saw tons of flamingos, a couple alligators, and lots of other birds. We also got to swim in the mangrove natural spring! The price is per boat and ours could seat 8. I believe it was a little under 2000 pesos.
