Weird but interesting. We couldn't get in because there was no caretaker around. There was, however, an army barracks setup at the end of the building when topping the hill to the house. We asked a soldier (who, with his braces, appeared to be very young) if he could let us in but he said no. He suggested we stop by in the early evening when the caretaker would be there but we haven't had the chance yet. Three trucks of about 30 more soldiers then came up the hill and it seemed like a good time to scadaddle...we did.

This is a closed site a has a guard posted all the time.. That said it's Mexico so if you are smart you can get in to see corruption at its finest

Be prepared to walk up a steep hill! This is not a museum but if you talk to the grounds keeper he may let you in. I found it interesting but eerie! Remember this is not a tourist place the guy may not let you pass for the 50 pesos per person!

We were so happy we found this amazing place! There was a man who charged us 200 pesos to get in who appeared to be a squatter, but it was worth it anyway. Many wall paintings are still in good shape. There were bats in several of the dark closets upstairs. We could only imagine the parties and entertainment that happened here!

Interesting story behind this location. Very easy and inexpensive place to visit while you are in Zihua. Really great 180 deg views, too bad it had not been redeveloped or restored. Arrive sometime after 09:00. That is when the guy that lets you in arrives. Don't be intimidated by any military guys that may be around, they are friendly.

This is a great piece of history if you enjoy urban hiking. Take a tour guide as that's the only way to enter the grounds. The guard on Sundays won't let anyone in. Be prepared to pay a guard fee of 50-200 pesos per person. No professional photos allowed at this time

For a unique local experience of past ghosts and demons as well as live resident bats. This place, I would put as a must see. An incredible vantage point, high front and center view of Zihuatanejo bay. Good idea to talk to locals before attempting to access. Hopefully the city or municipalities that own it will take control and perhaps restore it and make it as a museum and allow the history of it be known and passed down to the genenerations, as modern Mexican legend. Viva Mexico!!!
