Beautiful, secluded huts on a pristine and clean beach. We loved the simplicity of our cabana with just a bed and a few lamps. They refilled a cooler on out patio with fresh ice everyday. The outdoor bathroom connected to our room was a lovely freeing experience with an outdoor shower, yet it still had a mirror, flushing toilet and electricity. The staff was polite but scarce. They had hammocks on the beach and taxi's outside the hotel which was good. We enjoyed our time there.

When spoiled for choice, choosing the best lodging that suits your needs can be a dilemma. I was very satisfied with my stay at Playa Esperanza; an unassuming boutique hotel in Tulum National Park that will surprise you with its aesthetic beachfront cottages offering some of the best photo opportunities! A special thank you to the AirBnB host, Johann, who essentially rescued our vacation by going above & beyond to help us with a rather dire situation. Gestures like this separate the great from the good, especially in a region where I found people to be mostly unhelpful and apathetic. Anyway, why I particularly enjoyed the accommodation was that it wasn't overpowering (like Azulik) where you could feel guilty for leaving the premises to explore other things. Our beachfront suite had a deck with a wonderful view of the turquoise sea under the palm trees. You could literally see the sunrise from your bed! I had some of the best sleep, listening to the waves and the rustling Caribbean breeze. The king bed was comfortable with a mosquito net. The bathroom was adequate and there were enough electrical outlets for charging your phone and camera. Do note that being in a National Park, the hotel cannot go all out on amenities. Still, you will have a comfortable stay with running hot water and a split-AC. If you need a spacious room for your luggage (or just 'cause), then go for the large suite. The junior suite and some of the other rooms are much smaller. You cannot reserve an entire duplex unless you reserve both floors, FYI. Other things to note is that parking inside the gate is limited to 5 spaces with additional (free) parking on the street and a small lot across the street. Rooms are cleaned daily around noon with linen changed every third day of your stay. Although they serve breakfast and food till 6 pm-ish, you'd probably try additional options in Tulum. WiFi connectivity is decent but the bandwidth struggles during daytime when everyone is either video calling or updating social media. (I'd avoid video uploads.) The best way to contact the hotel is either through your AirBnB host or Whatsapp them on the number (call/text). They have bike rentals and on-site covid testing can be arranged with the reception ($35 USD for Antigen annd $100 for PCR - cash (USD/MXP) only). The Tulum Ruins are just up the road (15 min walk or 2 mins drive) and the other Tulum photo spots / party hubs are 12-20 mins South (by car). Overall, I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a quieter picture-perfect beach cabana with an itinerary to also explore other places.

People working at the reception were extremely friendly and helpful. Location is great far from the "party zone" and the crowd but everything you need is not that remote . The property is offering bicycles on a fare price so you can reach shops and restaurants in 15min. Facilities exceeded our expectations - everything is environmental friendly but all needs have been satisfied. Beach has been cleaned every morning, rooms as well. As you are in a protected area you are surrounded by wildlife as raccoons (and similar) , woodcocks, baths, lizards, iguanas other friendly creatures. We decided to extend our stay by one day and even the property was full the staff made their best to accommodate our family!

Beautiful place to stay, really enjoyed waking up to the ocean sunrise as we had the ocean view villa, the sound of the ocean is fantastic at night! The food at the nearby Cinco restaurant was fenomenal! (And we’ve been all over the world to some of the best restaurants!) Only one qualm, IF YOU ARE A COFFEE DRINKER, BRING YOUR OWN, NO COFFEE IN THE ROOM AND NO ROOM SERVICE ? Other than that we extended our stay one night anyway ?

This place deserves zero stars. What a waste of money. $250/Night and we may as well of stayed in a tent on the beach. This place is absolutely terrible. For the love of all that is holy avoid this place. ~ the bungalows are hot, and poorly insulated. We sweat the entire stay, even with windows open and fan operating (A/C doesn't work). - We had a baby bird in our room that kept us up all night. ~ The electrical installation was performed by someone who clearly was not an electrician. Turn a light on, and another turns off. Even if you can get 2 lights on at once they flicker or one shuts off. - Per your reservation you're ensured 2 bottles of water a day.....if they give them to you, when they don't, don't bother pointing it out. ~ If you park your car in 'Jefe's' (boss) spot the security will have you park outside of the hotel's enclosure. Say anything and they threaten to tow your car away. The spot isn't marked. - Management ignores any concerns you have. ~ Water pressure is a joke. If you do decide to take a shower they're only giving you one towel per person...for your entire stay. - Your room comes with a cooler...but no ice (have fun figuring that one out). ~ The shower area has tile floors that seem to have been laid by a 5 year old. Raised edges in the shower that create a cutting hazard, and a 2 inch rise next to the toilet, to ensure that you'll trip. And the toilet will decide when it wants to flush, not when you press the button. For the cost to stay here you'd be better off sleeping in your car, at least then you'd have adequate A/C. This was part of my Wife and I's honeymoon trip and I'd trade this whole experience for a kick in the balls. PLEASE STAY AWAY. These people don't deserve to be in business.

Great resort. A lovely balance of amenities and eco-tourism. The location steps on the beach is unreal. Already missing the sounds of the ocean at night. The beach club is so well staffed with such friendly people as well. Also wasn’t aware there was a pool here so that was a great surprise. I loved the outdoor shower most of all. To be clear this is not like a traditional hotel. The cabanas are very rustic and there will be bugs but the mosquito net around bed is large and works well. Some of the rooms don’t have a bathroom in the room but a few short steps from the room. Given the location it’s not hooked up to city infrastructure so the water and power is limited at times. But to be honest we were never really inconvenienced by it. But best to be aware. Any of the negative reviews on this are just due to people not being aware of the style of hospitality this place has to offer and to be frank just sound like spoiled children. This place was one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed.

The hotel is an Instagramer’s dream. It looks amazing, beautifully decorated. But I have 2 complains: 1) Even though our room was one of the best ones, we had to sleep in a bed covered by a mosquito net and have the AC on full all day. Why? Well the doors and windows didn’t really shut on the frames. When it was windy, the curtains were blowing the whole time. Considering how expensive the place is, it wouldn’t take much to fix it and stop inconveniencing customers all this. 2) the service was mediocre at best, and considering their pricing, one could expect a lot more. The bar closed at 6 PM, and the breakfast was very limited (no eggs, no yogurt?). They even tipped themselves without asking and charged me. It may be custom on those parts, but I did not like it. 3) I’ve seen other hotels in the surrounding that cleaned the seaweed once or twice a day, and it looks (and feels) much better. No reason as to why not do it here too. Special shout out to Paula at the reception, she made our stay much more pleasant, help us with top recommendations, renting a car at a fair price, and overall getting around. One would hope to find such great receptionists at every hotel one goes. Without her I would have taken another star out.

The surroundings and the beach are really nice even if you need at least a bike to explore the area. We were aware that we would stay in simple cottages, but the equipment was underground and clearly in the years. The service is not the best even if communication with the reception is easy. Paula, one of the staff, is really trying. For the price, however, you should be able to expect that the towels are changed daily and that it does not rain to the extent in the hut, as is the case. Would recommend another hotel in tulum.
