Puerta Del Mar - 77682 San Miguel de Cozumel

Puerta del mar was very under whelming, $260 a night I would have thought that more than three rolls of toilet paper would have been provided for our five day stay. I also would have thought they could include paper towels and garbage bags for the kitchen. We were also very disappointed that blankets were not included with the bedding. A gallon to fill with purified water was not included. The refrigerator was not working and we lost $400 worth of food, we were told we were going to be reimbursed but we were not. Staying at Puerta del mar really put a damper on our vacation.

NOT WHAT YOU MAY EXPECT: We had a an awful time here. I think the biggest part of it was that this is a "hotel" but really more of just a person's house you stay. There's no front desk you check in. It's poorly lit at night and there's tons of racoons at night plus we encountered a few spiders and ants in our room and the common area. We were coming from the US and getting through customs and getting our car rental took longer than expected. Checking in was a living nightmare and it was our first impression of Mexico. The house owner was rather upset with us and not very courteous. The whole thing made my wife cry. In the end he was moved to send someone he knew to come and open the house for us by then we were quite frazzled. The general feel is that the operation is trying to do the minimum to get by. The owner wants to run a business but still wants to live his own life so you just have to fit into it however it's most convenient to him. The toiletries are the cheapest quality as well as the towels, not to mention the low quality of the breakfast where you could totally tell the disposable cutlery was being reused. All around just a bad bad experience. Yeah the house is big and it's nice that's right on the beach but it could be done so much better. Also, perhaps it's good to have a little background as to how this hotel came about. It's basically the home of a man that doesn't want to downsize from his large house and is running this operation so it can be sustainable.

Was an amazing place! So happy we found it, the B&B was perfect for us, away from the cruise ships, but not at all far from everything! The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the easy breakfast was great! The beach there is beautiful, and the home was too with all the marble and decor-couldn't believe the price it was, felt like we lucked out!

Amazing place with a beautiful ocean view. Even if the house has an old &"church" feel to it, it is quite charming. The owner is polite but on the austere side. The breakfast is not good however, better to have it in town.

Beautiful beautiful place! Far from the crazy nightlife of central downtown. But unfortunately also a con cuz it's a bit away from any conveniences... if you prepare for it, it'll be fine. also not owners fault there was construction going on the street and lost power.. which means no electricity or water.

Amazing place, a real hidden gem! We were looking to book an expensive hotel in order to have a nice vacation, but instead we were lucky enough to find this place by chance. Just on the beach, with amazing view! Several animals spotted around, raccoons, iguanas. We encounter several issues with mosquitos but the personal was very kind and help us with. Great value for the price.

Very pleasantly surprised by this place. Beautiful upscale interior, kinda felt like a museum. I forgot the host gentleman's name but he was helpful and polite. Only downside is no restaurant or bar, but there are plenty of options within 10-20 minutes walk. Ocean was a little murky, but the beach was clean. Lounging area behind bushes offers semi seclusion from passers-by. Pool was small but clean. If you're not into crowded resorts but like this part of the island, I would highly recommend. There were only 3 other guests when we stayed, very quiet.

If only I could give more stars. Everything was perfect - in fact it was paradise. Its so quiet there - you only hear the waves during the night. Paradise beach and water. Amazingly beautiful house. Everything is superclean. The room has a dream view over the ocean and beach .. with a lovely hammock. Beautiful bathroom and super comfy bed. Breakfast included. And the owner will make sure your stay is perfect. Can only recommend
