★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We spent 6 days at Hotel Puerto Holbox in late July and early August, 2019. Located on the beach about 500 yards from downtown. Everyday started with breakfast at the outdoor restaurant. Breakfast was superb each day. The staff were very nice and cheerful. We spent several hours each day on the beach. The beach was one of the nicest beaches on the island. We stayed in lounge chairs covered by white sheets which provided much needed shade. Wait staff provided us with cocktails, water and food at very reasonable prices while on the beach. On 2 days we rented bikes at $1.50 per hour from the hotel and toured around. The restaurants in town are great. We spent $10 to $20 per person on dinner including drinks (alcoholic some nights and non-alcoholic other nights) and a generous tip. The room was very clean and included a small refrigerator. The hotel staff provided 2 to 4 bottles of water each day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very quiet hotel, with tasty breakfast! The beach club is nice and beautiful, the only
Downside was there was a lot of seagrass (middle of Febuary). Not the hotels fault but a 10 min beach walk will bring you to much nicer beach areas. I dont know if the hotel can do more against it, but for now 4 stars because of it

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Clean quiet room with great view. Beds were comfortable and the air worked well. This is a WONDERFUL place to relax and do nothing, food was great the breakfast was filling and delicious. Wish they didn't put up all of the canvas shade structures (you have to purchase food to stay right next to the water) right away so that there was a view from the palapas (free to use shade and loungers).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super nice staff! Stayed one night in this hotel after moving from a hotel we did not like, and we are glad to have chosen Hotel Puerto!! Rooms are very clean and spacious, food was of great quality and beach club was amazing. The manager/owner even took us back to the ferry himself when he saw was had been waiting too long for a taxi. Highly recommended!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ok, hotel is very unique, it is clean, nice people, and quiet. The bad news is that this is the worst beach front view. It has none, your view is to the pool. The second bad thing was the beach, it was full or sargazo (seaweed) you cannot go in there. This is why I gave 3 stars, also I paid about 170 dollars per night thru Expedia. Don't do it talk to them directly I think is like 80 dollars if you do call them. Also it was no breakfast included.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Looking at other hotels in the area, this place was probably one of the better ones. The beach is gorgeous though I'm ashamed to admit that we didn't even set foot on it. Hey, we only had two evenings here. We were kicking ourselves for not adding an additional night. Our room had two double beds and the AC was quite sufficient. We had a key style safe. Do not lose the key.
They're included breakfast was okay. Nothing spectacular but it saves you a few bucks.
About Holbox: The beach bars had a wonderful "vibe". I told my wife that it reminded me of Boracay in its infancy.
Must Do! Bioluminescence. I think we overpaid for the tour at 600 pesos per person. We were supplied wetsuits with mask and snorkel. I've heard of this tour being as slow as 200 pesos per person. Your mileage may vary. You can bring your underwater camera but forget trying to take a picture of the bioluminescence. It cannot be done! We were there the end of July 2021 and all the tour guides were saying that this is the brightest they have been all year. We got lucky.
Bikes OR Golf Cart? The quick answer is, if you do not mind bicycling in the heat, then go ahead and bike. We had an eight-year-old with us that kept slowing us down and complaining about the heat. Secondly, the dirt roads of this island have a lot to be desired. The rains just erode some of the roads here. Also further east and west of Centro, the roads get more sandy and makes it more difficult to pedal.
HUGE TIP: do not withdraw cash anywhere on this island. You will suffer financially. Make sure you get your cash before you arrive at the port of Chiquila.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful Hotel . Was clean and very quiet . Is a pet friendly hotel so lots of dogs everywhere. Rooms were small but perfect . You don’t really spend much time in the room . Beach right in front and not really busy . During my stay (August) was very calm and the beach was basically to ourselves. Staff was very nice and helpful . I loved everything about this place.
