Restaurante Chen Rio - Quintana Roo C-1

Service was horrible, check your bill!! Our waiter wanted to argue the exchange rate, and have us over pay by $10 usd. He said, that the exchange rate on the east side of the island was different than the west!!! Not!! The water in the bathroom was shut off, no way to wash your hands, flush the toilet or rinse off from the ocean. Make sure to being in ALL belongings too! We left 2 hotel towels in our vehicle, because the seats were hot, and someone stole both of them and a t-shirt. The parking attendant saw nothing...so frustrating! This is our 3rd time to the east side of the island, and we usually skip Chen Rio because it's so busy. Wish we had skipped it again. Major disappointment!! Trash everywhere!!

Great food and service. We got there a little early before a tour bus brought a ton of people so the wait wasn't bad.

We ordered the fish platter for 4, including 2 lobster tails, a whole snapper, sea bass, shrimp, octopus, fries, rice, and more. Everything was cooked to perfection, seasoned beautifully, and the price was certainly right. $75 closed out the tab, and everyone left stuffed to the gills. A must visit (bring cash, no card here!) The view/atmosphere doesn't hurt either!!

The la parrilla is excellent. It comes with fried grouper, grilled grouper fillets, grilled lobster, octopus, and French fries. The atmosphere is well worth the drive. Beautiful place.

Very nice beach, average food. Somewhat expensive considering the quality. We ordered shrimp and fish tacos - safe choices - they were pretty average.

Far side of the island . We stopped for fresh conch ceviche cantina style and conch with garlic butter. Yum!

Setting is awesome. Sitting right on the beach with feet in cool sand. Enjoying the breeze and the sound of crashing waves. Food is good, nothing spectacular and priced accordingly. Small menu but adequate for most (adults, kids, veggie). Please remember to bring cash, no CC accepted. They have a "special" conversion rate if you pay with US dollars, bring pesos if you can or don't get pissed at the convenience conversion rate. Come earlier in the day to avoid crowds coming from the cruise ships.

A Long-standing Cozumel Staple The first time I was in Cozumel I was 8/9...it was also the first time eating fish and it was here at Chen Rios. Over the 20+ years since, I've been back to Cozumel 4-5 times, and each time I come back for nostalgia AND great food on a beautiful beach (swimming, surfing, boarding). This last trip, I was so excited to take my partner here and share my nostalgic feeling with her. Friends, the meal was solid AF, and did not let me down or leave me anything but full and happy. Guac, pico, pescado Frito for 2, and of course XX's. While sargassum has devistated the east coastline, do not let it dissuade you from coming here. The sand is still the best on the island, and you can share the story with the world on how we need IMMEDIATE ACTION to help solve the largest scale, anthropogenic changes the world is experiencing right now!
