Royal Hideaway Playacar - Adults Only - 77710 Playa del Carmen

We loved our stay here. If you want a quiet stay, this is the place. It's not the kind of AI that will entertain you (nighttime entertainment was lacking/not interesting) but the food was inventive, and the rooms were very nice (a little damp as the AC was only in the bedroom portion, so be prepared). We had to get up early to make sure we got clean pool towels every day, but it wasn't too big of an inconvenience. The staff were all very helpful and nice. Lots of different pools to explore and plenty of shade and sun. They will even take your drink order by the pool or on the beach, which was a first for us as other places in the past only offered bar-side service. The grounds crew works hard to keep everything perfect! We would see them out as late at 10pm still working. We were not given an overview of the amenities, which I found a little bit odd, so if this is important to you be sure to ask your concierge. The beaches in Mexico are all public, so there are a lot of people coming up to sell you things, but that will happen no matter where you stay. If you sit by the pool you will not be bothered.

This property is in an excellent location. My husband and I were here five years ago and we absolutely loved it. It is very safe and the beach is beautiful. This time around we noticed the guest rooms look tired. We had problems with our air conditioner not cooling properly, and the hot water was not working properly in the evening. Half the restaurant’s were excellent, and the other half gets a pass. The wait staff was great and everyone spoke English. My main issue was with the front desk staff(she took her sweet time). At checkout I waited 25 minutes before I requested to see the manager. Other than the couple being checked in , I was the only person in line. The manager used Covid for his staffing shortage. ;( What a way to end your vacation!

I have been to many resorts around the Cancun area and this was by far the best. The size of the resort was perfect. Not too big and not too small. We loved all the restaurants and the secret breakfast on the 2nd floor. The wait staff was tremendous and with tips will always take care of you! Our concierge Edith was the best! Beach was clean and so white and even had little cabanas to block the sun. Highly recommend! Best week of vacation ever!

The best trip EVER! My husband and I came here for our anniversary and had the MOST incredible time — especially thanks to Israel and Ivan!! The resort was clean and gorgeous (and details are neutral colored, down to the towels, which I love!) and the experience was even better than we dreamed. It was EXACTLY what we needed for rest and relaxation — super fun and joyful, but not a party scene at all. Everyone we came in contact with was so pleasant and kind and did whatever they could to make our experience wonderful. The food, classes, pool, and beach were perfect. We are recommending all of our friends and will absolutely be back!

This resort is smaller and more intimate than most resorts which is nice if you want to relax. The staff were all very nice, each building comes with a concierge who will book your dinners, and essentially help with your trip from covid booking, to activities. Another thing about this resort they have top shelf drinks (or so the bottles are :) The 2 pools are not over crowded, and you can easily save a spot around 8am versus most resorts where someone needs to be out there by 6am. Christina was a great pool activities employee and did a fun Spanish lesson!! The ONLY thing that wasn't great, but not a deal breaker was the showers are very small and have no bench for shaving etc. easily. Again, this is NOT a deal breaker just more of a small warning for future leg shavers!

This resort has amazing customer service. We loved all of the restaurants . The food was excellent and the atmosphere and views were so lovely. Spices was our favorite. And Juan Gomez was a very attentive and helpful server. We also loved the steak at the Grill! This is a very relaxing resort with many pools , lovely grounds in a very secure area. You can walk e very where. The only negative I have is the rooms are a little old. This resort is a good value for an all inclusive!

Came to Royal Hideaway for a girls trip/vacation week and we loved our stay here! The resort has a ton of activities that are high quality so you never feel like you don’t have enough to do. The food options are pretty decent even if you’re vegetarian and it’s very convenient to Playa del Carmen so you don’t feel so secluded in some far away resort. Room service was great! We loved being able to have coffee and pastries delivered to our rooms every morning and random deserts or snacks when we felt hungry after pool time. The view and beach by the resort are spectacular and shaded beach chairs allow you to relax and unwind while taking in the sights. I also appreciate that there are no random hidden charges- it really is all inclusive. More than the resort itself though, the service was top notch. We loved the attention we received from the wait staff. We had a great time on the bike tour to Playa and the Mayan ruins with Enrique, Aqua gym with Israel was a riot- basically a dance party in the pool, and other activities like cocktail classes, Mexican art, painting classes kept us entertained the whole week. Special shout out to our concierge Fernando for taking care of our dinner reservations, Lucia for all our pool-side needs, and Alfonso for being so attentive. Thank you all for making our stay so memorable!

This resort is a hidden gem. The staff are amazing here and the food and drink was good. Rooms were very clean but looked a little worn but I think that might be because of the pandemic. The views of the ocean are spectacular! This is a great resort if you want to relax and enjoy some downtime. Not a major party vibe here which was fine for us. Highly recommend reserving a Bali bed. It was an amazing experience.
