Ir con la familia y ante todo poder asistir a las celebraciones eucarísticas, las cuales se ponen muy interesantes, más que nada con las omilias, que da el párroco de dicha parroquia.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Parroquia de San Juan de Dios fue el primer templo en Oaxaca, donde se dijo la primera misa, al pie de un árbol de huaje, porque precisamente allí pasaba entonces el Río Atoyac, que más tarde fue desviado hasta las faldas de Monte Albán. Su origen origen data de la llegada de las fuerzas de Hernán Cortés a Oaxaca en 1521, con su primer sacerdote, Juan Díaz, y el capellán del ejército, fray Bartolomé de Olmedo. Fue el primer templo construido en la ciudad en el siglo XVI y, por ello, catedral provisional y sede de la diócesis de Oaxaca. Su administración se dejó a los monjes juaninos, quienes llegaron a Oaxaca en 1669 y dedicaron el conjunto a San Juan de Dios. Al concluirse la obra de la nueva Catedral formal, poco a poco, la Capilla quedó abandonada y finalmente fue destruida por el temblor de 1662.
Como resultado de los daños que sufrió después de un incendio, en 1864, el templo tuvo que ser reconstruido en 1867. Con el tiempo, los terrenos que estos edificios ocuparon, pasaron a ser las instalaciones del actual Mercado 20 de Noviembre. Lo reconstruyeron tres años más tarde, para ser consagrado el 26 de enero de 1890. Fue declarado Monumento Histórico el 9 de enero de 1934.
The Parish of San Juan de Dios was the first temple in Oaxaca, where the first mass was said, at the foot of a tree of huaje, because precisely there it passed then the Atoyac River, which was later diverted to the slopes of Monte Albán. Over time, the land that these buildings occupied became the facilities of the current Mercado 20 de Noviembre. He was rebuilt three years later, to be consecrated on January 26, 1890. It was declared a Historical Monument on January 9, 1934.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Llegue caminando de Guadalupe Etla, el camino es un poco largo. A lo lejos la iglesia se destaca porque está sobre un roquerio y se dice fue construida sobre un basamento prehispánico. La Iglesia es sobria pero con detalles muy hermosos.
Los alrededores de la capilla donde seguro hubo un ojo de agua está lleno de basura que sipe, es de la gente que visita en la semana Santa. Por favor les suplico tener respeto a un lugar tan sagrado, y llevarse su basura.
Arrive walking from Guadalupe Etla, the road is a bit long. In the distance the church stands out because it is on a roquerio and it is said it was built on a pre-Hispanic basement. The Church is sober but with very beautiful details.
The surroundings of the chapel where there was surely an eye of water is full of garbage that does, it belongs to the people who visit during Holy Week. Please beg to have respect for such a sacred place, and take away your trash.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This church on 20 de Noviembre is no less busy than any place on the street. The church is open for ordinary usage, and people drift in and out throughout the day. The interior is simple, not the ornate experience of a cathedral, but they say God isn't much into the fancy stuff.
The exterior of the church is always hopping. A crowd of people is always on the move past here, and many vendors have their displays and stands here outside the church doors. My favorite stuff here is the fantastic collection of tiny molcajetes and the printed designs and pictures the guy sells nearby.
