About Sayulita Holistic Bodywork

I was born and raised in Germany and chose Mexico as my home in 2001 after successfully pursuing a career in the fashion industry for more than 11 years while working and living in Germany, Poland, and Italy. After contemplating the next step in my life’s path, I made the decision to fundamentally change my way of life. Mexico, with its much slower rhythm, its wide-open spaces, its natural beauty, and its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, became the perfect setting for my transformation.

Realizing that I had “The Touch,” I enthusiastically chose to follow this calling and to make it my new profession. In 2004, after graduating from a private massage school in Puerto Vallarta I started working as a  self-employed massage therapist.
In 2007 I graduated from the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado, as a Certified Practitioner. For the past 11 years, this form of manual therapy has been the main focus of my practice at my studio in Sayulita, Mexico. Through a steady practice and an ongoing process of continuing education, I constantly deepen my understanding of the human body. In addition to manual therapy, I use visual assessment, movement education, and exercise prescription to provide a truly integrated approach to client care with lasting results.

I am very sensitive to the fact that every person has his or her own comfort range concerning the amount of pressure applied during bodywork. I actually consider it an art to have the awareness and sensitivity to do profound bodywork while recognizing and respecting every person’s boundaries. Recently, I coined the term “Friendly Rolfing” to change people’s preconceived ideas about this form of bodywork.

My general approach to healing is based on the fact that any illness is always an imbalance of the mental, emotional and physical aspects of our being. Any physical symptom is but a pointer to deeper underlying disharmonies. I am deeply interested in all aspects of human existence, the intricate connections within ourselves, the meaning of our life paths, our conditionings and circumstances we were born into which all provide the general frame for learning, experiencing, accepting, transforming and loving. I am a practical, well grounded and optimistic person who enjoys helping other people to heal and gain a deeper understanding of whatever the problem/project might be right now in their lifes.

I can't believe how lucky I was to have found Riki during my visit to Sayulita! Riki is incredibly skilled, a great listener and observer of the body's habit patterns, and a lovely person. I trusted her as soon as I met her, and she got me completely out of the neck and shoulder pain my Rolfer at home hasn't been able to figure out! She's really knowledgeable, intuitive, and amazing in every way. I didn't try the Jin Shin Jyutsu she does--I'm a huge fan of Rolfing as it has really helped my body long term, so I chose to stick with that for my one session. Rolfing is often mistakenly considered to be a very painful style of bodywork, which is not at all the case when done well. Riki is really aware of how much pressure she uses and how it is being received, and checks in constantly to be sure the client is comfortable. Unfortunately I will now be seeking someone comparable in my home city, but not sure I'll find them!

The first time I had an appointment with Ulrike, I walked in blind. Had no earthly idea what holistic bodywork might be. I left knowing I had discovered the best possible bodywork and that Ulrike was a master practitioner. By the close of ten sessions, my frozen shoulders were mobile and i had extended my arm reach by four or five inches. Her grasp of anatomy and physiology, bones, the lymph system--the whole shebang---is extensive and informed all the work. I cannot recommend this technique and this practitioner enough. In addition to the hands-on assertive bodywork, Ulrike's other healing modality is jujinjitsu. Again, i was like, "Huh?" And I still cannot give you a definition. It is a delicate, slow technique with only the lightest of hands. It remains mysterious BUT I went in with a gastrointestinal complaint of long standing duration, and that disappeared overnight. Truly. Ulrike herself is a lovely woman who speaks several languages and has many talents. I looked forward to an hour with her as much as I did the actual work. A GIFTED PROFESSIONAL.

My wife and I got great massages here. Obviously knows what she’s doing. Will devote from routine to attack problem areas, so not only are you feeling good, you are being treated well.

This place was really beautiful. There are lots of places to eat and drink too. I give it 4 stars not 5 as we were constantly interrupted by people wanting to sell things to us, which I understand, but found a little annoying. Nevertheless, I would definitely come here again.
