For the price we payed we could get a better room in better hotel in a better location. The room was ridiculously small, we had nothing in the room axcept one small shelf. We heard loud music from our window (closing the window didn't help) from early in the morning until 1 am (a local salsa music). The mattress was not straight because he was larger than the bed base and the curtains was too small for the window size so we had light in. The staf in. The reception were terrible, the room was ready and clean and she didn't wanted to let us in before the check-in time (we stayed there 13 nights), she didn't know to explain why sh's adding more money to the payment, and nobody could help us carrying the bags to 3rd floor.

Room was very very dirty and something was wrong with the AC. Smelled super heavy of chemicals and I had issues breathing when waking up and I only slept here for 2 hours. Still having issues with my lungs now. Not worth the health problems to stay here. Somebody also set off the fire alarm across from us at one AM and tried to knock and tell us it was us LOL. I’ve stayed at other Selina’s and they are all way better than this one.

I had a good stay. The hostel had activities every evening and was community oriented. I believe activities ended about 10PM. However, another hotel next door partied until about 1AM in the morning, you can hear the music. It didn't bother me tho. The rooftop was closed so I wasn't able to check that out, but no big deal. They have food onsite, I think the kitchen shutdowns at 9PM. There's a pool and you can rent bikes onsite. I believe the air is off during the day and/or controlled by staff. You have to ask them to turn the air on. Also there's no hot water. I meant to ask about that. ? I kinda get it because it's so hot and humid there, but I'm not use to taking cold showers. Lol well I got use to it, my body had to adjust, that was kinda hard but I survived. ??‍♀️ I'm not gonna say anything negative about the room cuz it is what is it is, but I'll kinda describe it. I I brought lysol wipes and spray so I wiped everything down. The sheets are worn, not the best condition or cleanest. The fan was extremely rusted but it did what it had to do. Overall satisfied with my stay. I think I could've stayed at a better quality place for the price I paid, but like I said excellent location and I had a good stay. The staff was helpful. It's in a great location, 5th Avenue is right there, practically outside the hotel. The beach is right there, practically outside the hotel. The bus station is right there, 1 minute walk. The ferry to Cozumel right there, 3 minute walk. Covid testing center right there, 1 minute walk. This is my second stay with Selina. I stayed at the one in NOLA. My next trip is Panama City, but based on the reviews for that location and my previous stay I don’t think I’ll be staying there. I still may check out the rooftop cuz it has a nice view of the Canal and based on the reviews they party. Philly Black Vegan was here

Love this place. The staff are super friendly from the front desk to the bar/food service to housekeeping. This is my second visit and I’ll come back whenever I want to work in Playa for a bit. Selina is super close to the ferry port, Quinta Avenida, and tons of bars and restaurants. So while it’s convenient, it is a loud neighbourhood. Bring your earplugs and leave the fan on at night. I personally thought the food at the bar/courtyard was great and often had breakfast or lunch here while working. Wifi has been consistently good in the courtyard through my stays (over about 3 weeks). The kitchen and coworking are quite small so I didn’t make much of those. Pool are is super cute, and it’s easy to meet people around the property. There are some activities available and they do bike rentals right out of the lobby. Overall, I highly recommend this for digital nomads and working vacations!

I would like to say a huge thank you to Ximena, she is always super helpful. She has always got a big smile on her face which could turn anyone's frown upside down. The location is fantastic if you want to be in the heart of what makes Playa del Carmen great. You will certainly enjoy the vibrant sounds, colours and people. I hope you enjoy your time in Playa as much as i have. Thank you to all the staff for always being helpful.

i have not stayed in a ton of hostels in my life but this was definitely the roughest one ive stayed in. it just seemed pretty overcrowded, the bathrooms were a mess every time I used them despite being cleaned every morning and during my 3 day stay they had no towels available at any point in time. excellent location!

The AC didn't work at first in my room and there was dirt on my bed - which they then cleaned. The bathroom was not clean and the water pressure on the third floor was so low, I couldn't shower or wash my face. It's a party hostel/hotel, so don't expect to get much sleep. The sound travels throughout the entire building, and it's almost impossible to get a good night's rest. The elevator was broken, so I had to carry my luggage to the 3rd floor. For that price I expected simply more. Will not stay here again, and would not recommend it.

I’m a big fan of all Selina hostels, but in this one I had a horrible experience. The AC at the community room made me sick and ruined my vacation. I had to fully dress up to sleep and even layer up as for some reason the AC was getting colder and colder every night (the temperature was on display). The front desk says all occupants of the room have to agree on turning it off and use the fan instead, but people comes and goes and most of them you don’t see them before you go to sleep. The people on the bar is very nice and the location is very privileged inside town.
