I usually never take the time to leave a review but I feel the need to so that no one else has to suffer the experience we had. We have been to San Miguel several times over the years and it has always been a great experience and I would never want someone to leave here with a bad impression of such a beautiful place. The hotel was a last minute booking that we wish we had not made. First, every morning starting at 6am we would hear loud banging as if someone was throwing metal against the floor that would last up until 7am. Second, we could hear the conversation of people staying above us and also hear them walking around. Third, the person staying next to us had a dog who would bark excessively throughout the night.. We go and speak with the front desk and let them know our complaints and according to them they have no other available rooms to move us. That's it, that's the response, when we asked for a refund they were unable to give us one. They offer earplugs which they had none at the time and kept saying to keep asking different people. The experience was awful and we were fed up with the inability to sleep, so we decided to rent a AirBnb.

Hotel is beautiful, has amazing views of the city and is well-located, but does a poor job providing something important on vacation: good sleep! The windows/walls are very thin and all sounds travel very easily. The nearby cathedral rings (very loud) bells every 15 minutes between 6 and 8am, making it nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep. The bathrooms could also use updating, but for the good price are to be expected.

Do yourself a favor and do not stay at this location. The walls are paper thin, you can literally hear everything from the people staying next door and the people walking above on the top floor. I could literally hear their conversations. From 5:30AM to about 7AM, we would hear loud bangs every minute. It was the staff preparing for the day. We asked if they could relocate our room or provide us with earplugs as we were told they provide them. We were told by front desk staff no on relocating our room and that they were out of earplugs. They did not accommodate us at all. Moving on to the front entrance staff the ladies we encountered were absolutely rude so much for customer service. We left our stay earlier and found an AirBnb that was exceptional for a better price. Save your money and go else where.

Never stayed as a guest, but checked it out a couple times to see if I might. This Selina is DEAD! Even during a busy time in SMA otherwise. Not worth overpaying for a room when the other usual Selina perks are not in effect here. Almost nobody around either time I visited – mid-afternoon and morning. No schedule of activities – except for yoga 3 mornings a week, and when I showed up for that one day there was no teacher nor anyone else there. The coworking space is unpleasantly cocooned off from what’s otherwise a beautiful space – unfortunate since at other Selinas I’d learned I could enjoy an atmosphere AND cowork at the same time. It IS a beautiful space otherwise – and the rooftop vista is bar none, my favorite in town.

As you browse through all the “good reviews” you will see a common theme of poor air conditioning. This hotel not suited during warmer season. My wife got a sore throat, my 3-yr old daughter (who has never been sick) caught a slight fever, and I got a mucus-filled cough due to having a useless poor A/C wall unit and ceiling fan and standup electric fan circulating dry hot air around the room. Upon us hanging out at the courtyard waiting to check out, newly arrived guests were already asking staff for an extra electric fan. This hotel not suitable to those prone to sinus infections, asthma, or allergies. Many other newly cleaned rooms left w door open in purpose to keep the room "cool" for next guest. A lot of stairs to climb with no elevator. Not recommended for families with very young children especially in largest room with windows that lack screen or safety bars and not double pane. A child will climb out. This issue will probably not be fixed until an incident happens as it is an older building. There are newly installed double pane windows in Rooms 200s and 300s but not all rooms. Very poor bathroom lighting and shower pressure. Great property but property management must pay attention to these details. My review will more than likely be pushed to the bottom after a couple hundred good reviews but as someone who has traveled to over 20+ countries and stayed in over 50+ hotels (both budget and luxury) these are the issues that will cause you to lose guests. There should be no reason for a quest to be offered to move to a "more comfortable" room. Every room should be comfortable. Guests are on vacation and need not to be worrying about any of these basic hospitalities. It's the year 2022, why must a guest have to complain about poor bathroom lighting, poor shower pressure, and poor A/C? We unfortunately are guests that do not like to complain but maybe we should have. I would bet there have been several guests in the past who have been asked to switched to a more comfortable room or have left and cancelled their booking upon the same experience I have experienced. I wish Selina San Miguel de Allende the best and I hope these issues get taken seriously. A hotel will only get better if they pay attention to the negative reviews and address the issues written by guests who take time to write these type of reviews. The small percentage of negative reviews are more valuable to the hotel than the larger percentage of cookie-cutter basic good reviews. Reviews will make or break a hotel and is what I heavily pay attention to when I book my hotel stays. Fix these problems or this hotel will be out of business when enough guests start to complain especially with how hot it can get in San Miguel de Allende. This hotel is perfectly located next to the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. Every pesos that is spent by guests who book/stay in this establishment should be reinvested to renovate and improve the building for the betterment of future guests that choose to stay at this hotel. The hotel industry is already a tough business and with easy internet access to informative reviews makes it even more difficult and can make or break a hotel. There are several other hotels in the surrounding area to choose from. It would be sad to see this beautifully located hotel lose customers from basic hospitalities. Best wishes Selina San Miguel de Allende.

Place is nice did not taste the food. We ordered drinks and fries for daughter, after that we were ignored by the waiter and other waiters. We asked for the check paid and left, waiter was trying to explain it was because of the location of the table, not true we were just flat out ignored. I told the waiter it’s not the table that’s bad it’s the service. Will not recommend due to the bad service. I would give it no stars but have to give one to post.

I gave Selina the chance to make it right several times. I was overly patient and considerate. But I have to say that they made our vacation miserable. The service and courtesy of their staff is inexistent, I booked the most expensive room in the building because it was supposed to have air conditioning ( my husband has a skin condition that breaks into rashes and hives) I contacted Selina through the booking.com app previously to Reconfirm that they had AC and they got back to me saying YES because I have booked a higher category room. Oh surprise, we get there with a 80 degree weather and we did NOT have air conditioning!!! I asked them to let me cancel and move hotels or let me move to a cheaper room (standard suite) they said they couldn't offer free cancellation, nor a different room since they were fully booked so they threw us a miserable bone - a free standing fan that just did us harm! got both of us sick and did not help with the heat in the room. Not to mention, rooms were filthy (cool they make us wear masks at the establishment but they dont even clean their rooms or bathrooms!!! Sheets and towels were stained, hair from people that stayed there previously to us still in the pillows. REALLY HORRIBLE. to top it off, our room was right below or next to the hotel's rooftop restaurant/bar and at 5am we will get woken up buy the dragging of metal furniture all over the floor (our ceiling!!) definitely wont be staying with them ever again, at any of their locations and if you are vacationing you should consider not staying here!! its more expensive and you dont get what you pay for!!

The place is really nice! Really well maintained and has all the decoration and atmosphere you would like to experience in this hotel. Service was good, they were friendly and the rooftop on top it’s also great with a nice view from San Miguel.r I would recommend it to grab a couple of drinks and enjoy the view.
