★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've lived in Selvamar for 5 months with my family. Coming from Canada and fed up with the cold, we moved to Mexico to experience a new lifestyle. It's a gated community located about 9 minutes from the center of Playa. The houses are nice, however I felt a little too excluded since it's a private neighbourhood. Most of the residents are upper middle class Mexicains or foreigners (US and Canada).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Horrible place to rent. You are treated like a pariah. You can't order anything from outside because the house is not registred in your name and security makes it impossible. Forget about inviting friends, it is easier to enter Fort Knox. The place is nice with lovely and luxurious houses but if you don't ask for the entrance key card, it will ruin your stay. They will call the administration, then the registered caretaker for authentication. To make it short rent in Mayakoba.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very beautiful place and good people. They make you feel at home. Good service excellent food ,excellent drinks and just all around relaxing. I will HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone that is coming to playa del Carmen. Will return again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice gated community within an even bigger gated community. Taking off a star due to noise pollution. Being close to the highway, the noise just never ends. Then you have the daily maintenance and occasional loud neighbor party. But you kind of get used to it...
