Stingray Grill - 77400 Isla Mujeres

BEST fish filet entree so far up and down Quintana Roo! I know, it doesn't look promising from the outside! Hear me out- For survey purposes, over the past 3 weeks I have repeatedly order the fish filet entree with garlic that you can find in almost any seafood restaurant all over Holbox, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and even in Huatulco. Surprisingly this tourist trap looking joint delivered the best combo of taste and value. If you don't want to feel like you never left America with the music videos on blast or karaoke after 8pm in the downstairs main dining area, opt for the second floor where they play live Spanish music. They use bass for the fish, slightly charred and perfectly flaky unlike grouper that some other restaurants used. Garlic flavour definitely came through. Even the side veggies are well-seasoned yet simple. Rice was on the soggy side but it's not why I ordered this dish so no points lost there. Generous portion but not heavy! Great for lunch or dinner. I can keep going... Service is on par with the rest of island, staff speaks good English as well. Not sure if they take credit cards. I've learned to always plan to pay with cash on the island.

Best parrillada ever, everything was to die for. Enough food for 3 people and great bang for the buck. The meat was tender, the lobster and octopus were incredible. Even the roasted potato was amazing.

Summary: Waiters refuse to take order and joke about it. We sat down, after 5min I told a waiter we are ready to order and he said he'll be right there. 5min later I went to the bar and told another waiter. Same answer. A few minutes later both waiters are just standing near the bar chatting. I went there again and said I'm ready to order. They said something like "yeah yeah, your order" and smiled. Then when I walked away I could hear them laughing. Waited a foolish 5 more minutes and then left for another restaurant which had real waiters and food. I saw other tables that were getting frustrated too. There were 3-4 waiters just standing there talking the whole time. There are no missing details or issues that caused this to happen and i was very polite. What an absolute abomination of a restaurant and a total joke for the waiters who don't want to work.

We had an amazing brunch here. The seafood and vegetables were fresh and seasoned to perfection. Do order from their specials section which did not disappoint. My husband is vegetarian and their menu is well labeled with multiple vegetarian items. He gave high compliments regarding his veggie burrito. I loved every bite of my squid entree. If you like spicy, do ask for their habanero sauce. This region is know for the habanero sauce and this place and the best version. Pretty sure they make it in house. I also swung in the swings while waiting for my food, so 5 star on relaxing ambiance and service as well.

The food is pricey. We had the seafood soup which was excellent. The grilled octopus was not good. Also they charged us 6% credit card fee eventhough they had 5% earlier.

Favorite Bar and Karaoke experience by far. Excellent staff and their bartenders are all exceptional!!! Be sure to ask for their bartender Edgar, he makes amazing drinks and remebered us from our previous trip! My 40th Birthday at Sting Ray was epic! Looking forward to next trip and first stop at Sting Ray’s

Great Friendly Service. Patron Margaritas excellent. Just had guacamole and chips, and fried octopus, both were great.

The Stingray Grill is a place for music lovers. TVs are everywhere and they are playing upbeat music videos. You can sit on a swing at the bar and order all your favorite adult beverages. We went for dinner and the food was OK, on par with a decent diner back home.
