 It fascinates me to visit this house and see its processes, its work and its people. Great option to buy rugs (among other things) directly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing women's cooperative outside of Oaxaca City. These highly skilled artisans hand make woven goods (rugs, bags, pillow covers, placemats etc). Beautiful pieces of woven art which help these women support themselves.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely local community founded in the mid 1990s to advance women’s rights and autonomy which is now actively involved in some great community development projects. This nondescript house is hidden off the side of the road and serves as a meeting point for 20-30 women who contribute to the cooperative. The founding family lives on the premises, so they are frequently available. Just knock on the gate almost any time of day- but ideally give Pastora a call ahead of time and you can see how all the dyes are made and get a tour in addition to seeing some of their beautiful work.
