★ ★ ★ ★ ★ GLAD WE DID IT: We made a spontaneous stopover in this improvised little Mayan village museum - I usually tend to just drive by such locations, never knowing what it might hold for you. This time I challenged myself and broke up with this habit. What a good decision! We rolled out on the gravel parking lot and were greeted by a member of the family living there. He said, come in and I’ll show you around. No pushing, no hassle, no expectations. And it was so interesting what we were told in the following 20 minutes. At the end, unexpectedly, we were offered a typical Mayan meal all made from local homemade ingredients. And we could learn how to make tortillas ourselves. Of course, we showed our appreciation by tipping generously...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1000% recommend visiting this Mayan Aldea. The families that live here are truly kind and wonderful people. While we enjoyed them showing us the customs, lifestyle, and artifacts around the small homestead, getting to know Leopoldo the Shaman, his son Leonardo who showed us around, and the rest of the family was humbling and enlightening. They were extremely generous and knowledgeable and did not directly ask for any money, so naturally we left a generous tip and bought some souvenirs. This was the highlight of my visit to the Yucatan peninsula. Please visit and support this family and their commitment to maintaining a classic Mayan lifestyle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a nice experience. Victor and his wife are dedicated to keep the mayan way of life alive. They are preserving their culture and every day tasks as well as knowledge. Victor is learning English so he will take you through the village and explain everything from food preparation, pottery, building to hunting, agriculture, mayan medicine and much more. You will be able to make your own pottery and tortillas, which you can also eat later with some eggs and village produced vegetables/sauce.
The entry is free, but if you don't tip this guy, you are simply a horrible person. If this was a museum I would have no problem giving at least 100pesos. You learn so much and it doesn't get any more authentic than this!
Would strongly recommend!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What an other worldly experience. We were blessed by a Shaman along with our Precious stones we purchased from their store. We also bought some instrunents, and tried their holistic, prehistoric medicinal remedies. Arturo was a wonderful knowledgable tour guide. I could tell he took pride in telling us about the Mayan culture. His Aunt even made us DELICIOUS tacos EVERYTHING made from scratch! This is a MUST DO!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Go visit!!! Arturo was a great guide. It may seem like a gimmick but it's not. They are a real family who live off the land and live on site, they simply do these mini "tours" of their home on the side. They genuinely want to share their culture with visitors. Please go and support a local family!!! It was an invaluable experience.
