While staying at the Hilton Playa Del Carmen my wife and I were fortunate to take another guest's advice and book a snorkeling tour with Franco. Several activities were offered, including fishing and tours to Cozumel, but we decided for a morning snorkel departing directly from the beach in front of the Hilton and Grand Hyatt properties. This activity is perfect for couples or small groups who want to have a private experience with expert guides. We took a 20 minute boat ride to the reef, where we snorkeled for 45-60 minutes among diverse marine life, including many amazing close encounters with sting rays and tropical fish in a reef comprised of corals including brain coral and soft coral/sea fans. While more extravagant tours on larger boats with more people and perks like unlimited alcohol are also offered, we really appreciated being able to have a private experience in a smaller boat with a crew of three. In the water it was just my wife and I and two guides, so not only were we unconcerned with bumping into other snorkelers, but we also were able to fully appreciate the fish and coral that the guides were able to show us, rather than competing with a larger group to be close enough to the guides to see everything they were pointing out. We even made a stop to see a nearby underwater mayan statue that was very impressive, an unexpected but very appreciated addition to the reef tour. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and recommend this tour and this company to anyone visiting Playa Del Carmen. After snorkeling, Franco also arranged a tour of the Tulum archeological site including a stop to swim at three cenotes, an unbelievable cultural and ecological experience. While the Tulum archeological site may seem to be of interest only to historians or those who want to better understand the Mayan culture, and while cenotes seem to be primarily of interest to those who appreciate ecological wonders, the tour really tied them together and showed how the cenotes were of vital spiritual value, as passages between the land of the living and the underworld, but also were vital for the Mayan settlements in the area which were almost entirely dependent on the cenotes for fresh water. The Yucatan geological region, in which the porous limestone allows all of the would-be river water to flow freely beneath the surface of the ground, makes it so that the primary fresh groundwater access is available through the cenotes, which thereby determined the location of many Mayan settlements. Based on these experiences, I am sure that all of the other activities they have to offer are excellent as well, and we will definitely call them first the next time we are in the Riviera Maya and looking for a little adventure.

Great experience on the wind boat. Jonathan was super cool and professional! Our Captain was amazing and really new what he was doing. He took us deep into the ocean and brought us back safely. Wonderful experience!!

As we all have heard, to really appreciate and enjoy your time in a foreign country the best way is to find a genuine local to show you the way. Jonathan of Jhonathan Tours is that person to give you the best experiences! I was lucky enough to be introduced to him in 2019 when I was looking for a snorkling adventure. The memories and photos of that excursion were the best part of my trip! I have been back 4 times since and have added even more great memories. I now know how to paddle board, ride a jet ski, without falling off, and caught the biggest fish on a deep sea fishing trip. All these great times were arranged with Johathan and his team at what I deemed reasonable costs. I highly recommend using his services for any activities you might want to try while in Mexico ??

Jonathan is such a nice guy, he is always being super friendly and he provides the best experiences on top of that. I did a yacht tour and that was perfect, price was as good as the tour, I highly recommend it! Icing on the cake: if you meet him at his spot in Playa del Carmen in the afternoon, you'll get to see him do the best flips and acrobatics, definitely worth it ?

We did a morning paddleboard lesson+PDC coral reef snorkeling with Jonathan! It was our first time on paddleboards so we didn’t want to go far but we totally enjoyed what we saw! There’s plenty of fish and corals at the reef. All the equipment was provided. Be careful to not cut yourself on the corals cause there’s spots when they are really close to the surface! Jonathan was kind enough to take pictures and videos of us too! Totally recommend!!!

We rented a jet ski and had a great time!! The equipment was in great condition. There was a large open area to get the jet ski to top speed. We went at 11AM and had the whole area to ourselves! This company is very responsive and highly recommended them!

It was a pleasure to meet Jonathan! He is so friendly and his charismatic personality is contagious. We did a private sunrise paddle-boarding tour with Jonathan, which was one of the more unique activities we were able to do in PDC. We forgot our phones, but Jonathan volunteered to take photos on his own iPad (he doesn’t fall off!). The photos turned out great. Jonathan also set up an ATV/Cenote tour for us that ended up being our favourite activity in Mexico. We communicated with Jonathan on WhatsApp throughout our entire trip and he was so friendly and responsive. Anyone visiting PDC should stop by to see Jonathan for some great activities at reasonable prices.
