Water was murky, better other places on the lake. Wouldn’t change fajitas or tacos etc into just veggie which is the easiest thing to do. Travelled all around the world and Central America until this place has been the easiest to make veggie things! Also charged you an extra 10% to bring your food to you or you get it yourself ?? you couldn’t make it up!

Scandalous staff and hygiene: Shameful hygiene! Dirty sheets, no pillow cases, toilets and showers not cleaned during our three days of stays. Even the breakfast is dirty, with flies and hairs in the jam. The staff is even more deplorable: no smiles during the stay but nervous to the point of yelling at customers when they do not understand a request formulated in English! For example, they prefer to watch a series on the front desk computer rather than turning on the air conditioning before 10 at night, which makes it impossible to be in the room before that time. And they are also stingy to the point of tripping the air conditioning every morning at 6 a.m. which makes the rooms stuffy from 7 a.m. I rarely write comments but this is really unheard of I only mentioned a few things but for example a member of staff came into our room at 2am the first night! and when we surprised him asking what he was doing he told us he was "checking that everything was ok" and left straight away. I can only advise against this place. A star for the garden which is nevertheless nice. Please note: towels are charged per day and additional costs if you have more than one piece of luggage per person or if you leave your luggage in storage for a few hours after your check out.

I clearly not recommend Yaxche Centro Hostal y Camping! People in charge of the reception are unfriendly and the place is noisy since 5 in the morning -which makes it difficult to sleep. To top it all off, infrastructures are dirty as hell. Bad experience from the start to the end.

OK, so this a budget stopover. The private room was adequate with its own bathroom which had a good shower. The bed was clean and comfortable, plus there's a minibar fridge at affordable prices. Also a nice range of snacks. The WiFi did not work well at all in the room. Once the town came back online, We didn't. In the common areas it appeared to be OK. The room includes breakfast which is why I've dropped this place down to 3 stars. Just toast with what tasted like axle grease posing as margarine. My advice would be to skip it unless you really are on a serious budget. They need to up their game a little on this one.

The staff were unhelpful and will cheat you out of money if they can. My friend left before me and forgot his key-deposit. He asked me to get it for him but this member of the staff, Francisco, refused to give me the 100 mxn back saying that he already paid to my friend.Which was a lie… probably he is just putting the money directly into his pocket. They charge double if you book in person, so book all the nights you intend to stay on hostel world. Otherwise its actually fine, the kitchen is poor

I stayed there in a 10bed dorm and didn’t enjoy my stay much. It sounds unbelievable but imagine there was only ONE usable men washroom for the whole dorms, which they don’t even clean often. This was disastrous! The dorms were too small for 10 beds and it felt cramped. They have nonsense rules like they close the kitchen at night so you have no access to drinking water if you feel thirsty at night and forgot to fill up your water bottle. The process of getting water is also stupid since you have to lift a 20liter water tank and fill your small bottle (yes they don’t even invest on a small water pomp). The problem with this hostel is they don’t invest on anything and want to keep earning with the minimum service (the same problem with the whole Yucatan region actually!). I’m only giving it three stars because of their beach club which was nice.

Great hostel! Stayed in the mixed dorms. AC is only on at night. The breakfast was kind of small. A cup of fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast and jam. The beds were comfortable. The showers and bathrooms were clean but the water pressure was not good on the toilets. Often you had to wait to flush again. There is quite a beautiful garden to hang out in. The staff was quite friendly and helpful when we had a medical emergency. There is also a great service where they take you to the beach club on the lagoon at 11am and drive you back at 4pm for free. It is definitely worth a visit. The water is so blue there. I would come back for sure.

This hostel exceeded expectations, a very friendly place with good staff, many of whom were international volunteers. There was a good atmosphere whilst I was there. This place attracts backpackers and travellers on a budget. I met some good genuine people and went on day trips with them. It has a very open garden area with in the complex which was very nice. The hostel itself has a lot of character. You should take the shuttle bus to their lake side spot and spend the day there. It is very beautiful. Kitchen needs improvements! I was a little put off from cooking as it doesn't have much cooking equipment. Showers and bed were nice. Would stay here if you like rustic, characterful hostels
