Fantastic yummy healthy food, great atmosphere and fun drinks and great service, at very reasonable prices! Fun and nice owners. 5 stars my highest rating!

To expensive compare to the ingredients used ( not all are organic) some of the the dressing especially the garlic one used for the fish fillet are acid and not really good. The atmosphere is pretty cool, but doesn’t make you full after dinner. Service also should be improved

Wife and I went there last night, and it was so good we woke up this morning and decided to write a review. The ambiance was fantastic! Music was playing from outside the bussiness. The restaurant apparently just recently opened and isnt up on yelp quite yet and because of that, people havent found this gem. The owner is a successful restaurant owner from berkley, California. She moved out here by a calling and is making fantastic food. We started iur meal with a salad that was seasoned with herbs that she grows on the rooftop. For our setup it was some delicious fresh picked herb. I wonder if she runs up to the roof each time. We then ordered her specials and basically ignored the delicious menu because we were the only ones there at the time. The wife had a beautiful swordfish with a pistachio dressing and I had a lamb tagone that rested on a basmatti almond rice. Both dishes had accents like fresh grilled cucumber that was clearly given love on its own and delicately added to the dish. everything played well with each other. Finally we ended with dessert. The cardomen ice cream was fantastic. it had dates cut into it and was the best part. I would add even more dates to it - but I am a datey person haha. Frankly I have only had cardommen ice cream once before in san francisco at a closed dessert bar that was operated by the pastry chef from the french laundry - a 3 star michelin restaurant. Zatar beat that ice cream. Honestly I dont know why this isnt a more common ice cream - its amazing. Portion sizes were amazing. The owner came and checked on us the right amount of times and we decided to chat her up at the end of our meal and she was delightful. Highly reccommend. If owner reads this I advise to get on yelp! In conclusion - this is brand new and fantastic and should be considered when you are needing something fantastic after you are done with the local tacos!

The husband-wife team of Zatar put their heart and soul into this restaurant and it shows. I used to enjoy Zatar in Berkeley and was delighted to see that at Zatar Sayulita they bring the same passion to the table with beautiful aesthetics, organic, local ingredients, and incredible Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Kelly has great taste in wine, which you can tell when you order a glass, and they also create amazing, very unique cocktails using home-grown herbs (basil margarita and tamarind rose water YUM). We brought our 8-month old and I was confident to feed her any of their food, as I trust the cleanliness of their cooking process (which, ahem, may not be the case for every delicious food in Sayulita). The fresh caught fish with sesame-saffron sauce, potatoes, and grilled vegetables was incredible and the hummus (with a side of homemade bread - best in town from what I hear) is just as silky-smooth as I remember! It may be a little pricier than most places in Sayulita, but it's special and it's worth it - go here and you won't be disappointed.

Fresh, organic, feel good food - the owners of this family run business take pride in sourcing local and fresh ingredients. And you can taste the quality in every bite. A wonderful place for an intimate dinner for two or a larger group dinner with share plates. Options for vegans to meat lovers.

We ordered the prawns and grape leaves as appetizers. Both were excellent. The lamb entree was also delicious, tender, and unique. We couldn’t decide between the ice cream and baklava so we got both- no regrets.

Zatar is such an intriguing and delightful restaurant! We have had dinner there twice so far and look forward to many more visits. The food is exotic -- particularly in a small Mexican town -- and delicious. We especially enjoyed the lamb dishes, the asparagus appetizer special and the cardamom ice cream. The service was personable, the restaurant interior beautiful, and the location convenient. Welcome to Sayulita, Zatar!
