Book a minivan for 6 people 10 days in advance when we arrive to pick it up they had a problem with this vehicle so they have us another one much smaller so everyone had to carry luggage on their laps not so good. Anyway they tell us that as soon as we arrive to Merida we can go to change the vehicle for the same model we booked (and paid for) so we had to do a detour to go at the Merida airport to pick up the good one. There the staff was helping and friendly (in merida). We finally was all good with that. When we return the car in Playa the staff was still very unfriendly and inneficient and they try to take more money out of us saying that we lost the antenna of the car. Took us 20 minutes to prove to them that this model does not have any antenna Basically with lots of option in Playa to rent a car avoid those ones

Minus stars if that were possible. Booked months ahead for a rental staring at 5 pm. We arrive at 5 pm and they tell us the people in front took the last car. What's the point of booking ? Of course no help whatsoever from the staff. Be careful to use budget if you have third party insurance. In that branch they will try to force you to take theirs at 10 times the price of course

Do not recommend. Charged 400 pesos for a slightly damp seat, despite the fact that we returned the car 15 hours early. The woman that we returned the car to was not able to refer to the relevant clause of the contract to justify what we though was an unresonable charge. Terrible customer service. May have been a scam.

Overcharged, poor customer service, and cars that deserve more attention. We saw the car listed on Expedia, but went to the location to see if the prices were the same. We were told the price was higher and how much it would be for the rental, insurance, and deposit. We were told the deposit was $400 regardless of where we made the reservation. Therefore, we went to the cafe next door and used to wifi to do the booking with Expedia. Once we returned to budget, we had to wait until the associate said that she could view the reservation. Nevertheless, when we paid the deposit, we were charged almost $3,000 (for one day) in addition to the insurance that we paid directly to Budget. The car arrived with several dents and scratches and good thing my husband told me to take plenty of pictures. Especially, since we were told when we returned the car in Cancun that one of the dents wasn't notated on the paperwork.

Would give minus stars if possible. Booked a car for 12 pm through Expedia. Told they did not have a car for us at all until possibly 7 pm or the next day. We had a long was to drive and had made other reservations so could not wait. We left and went next door to Hertz. Got a car but of course being last minute it was much more expensive. Friendly service at Hertz. 40 min later got a to call from Budget saying he had our car. ( magically appeared) I do believe that the employee was trying to get a bribe as this was peak season. No point in reserving months ahead if this happens. Very disappointed.

When Isis down the street didn’t have our reservation, I was in a panic. We walked to Budget and they had a car available. It was a minivan (there were only two of us) and was substantially more than we were spending before, but I was so happy to have a car. Initially the guy said $120 US a day at which we started to leave. Then he dropped it to $90 all in. We agreed. We had to pay part in cash and part was a hold on our credit card. I don’t know if the cash part was a scam, but at that point I didn’t care. We did what we had to do and took our van. It was pretty banged up and not the greatest on the inside, but it ended up being fine. When we brought it back, it took forever but we had no problems. So all in all I was happy for Budget and found the experience satisfactory.

RENTERS BEWARE! Reviewers should be able to leave less than 1 Star as this company is criminal and in no way an actual “Budget car rental” They will definitely find a way to rip you off! I returned my fully insured rental after 3 weeks in perfect condition and they are now 100% refusing to return my $800 deposit! Won’t even answer my phone calls! After seeing how many other bad reviews they have on google it’s a wonder how they are still able to carry the international “Budget Car Rental” name. Worst experience ever! DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET in Mexico! EASY WAY CAR RENTAL has given me the best experience this year at a fraction of the cost. Check their reviews compared to these dirty scumbags. It’s businesses like this that give Mexico such a bad reputation. Thank You EASY WAY CAR RENTAL for restoring my faith.
