★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This part of chichén Itzá I guess that could be restored a little better, it is impresive when you listen to the history of this but I guess that is a little abandoned and not well maintained.
Even that, is an impresive place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not a nice cenote to visit. It’s not worth your time as the water was very dirty and nothing nice to see really.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This cenote is inside the Chichen-Itza complex. However most reviews are incorrect, you cannot swim in his cenote! If you want to swim, you will have to travel to cenote Ik Kil, which is where most photos you see here were taken... This is what happens when you go somewhere on a tour and have no idea where things actually are.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On my part visiting this part of the Mayan Village is for a moment of silence for all the bodies that were found in this cenote. Sacrificing was a big thing to the Mayans. Our tour guide explained that in this cenote you can’t swim. It’s filled with many minerals that can damage the skin and give serious health problems. Besides being sacred is a sign of respect for the souls who gave up their life’s. Must see place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Interesting cenote in a deep sink hole with tall, cavern like walls. You can only look down at it from above and the water isn't clear/blue like others, making it somewhat underwhelming if you have visited several other of the Yucatan's magical entrances to Xibalba. Worth the walk if your at Chichenitza though - especially because you can get a fresh, chilled coconut at the refreshments shop next to it as well lol ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The entrance fee (around MXN600) is too high in comparison to i.e. Coba where the entrance fee is MXN80 and the Vibe is more natural. Touts and vendors seem to be everywhere. All of them shout at you seeking your attention, destroying the atmosphere of the place. It is impossible to just walk around and indulge in the history of the site. Everything is advertised to be available for sale for 1usd. That is until you actually wanna buy something. That's when the price goes up multiple times. Nowadays it is also impossible to get close or climb the ruins.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cenotes are among the biggest attractions on Yucatan, as there're over 6.000 of them. In most of them you can swim, which is an unforgettable experience.
This one in Chichen Itza differs from all others. You cannot dip there, and it had a special meaning for Maya.
Cenote Sagrado is the one where they threw gold, jade and human offerings to Rain God Chaac. It's considered the most sacred one.
It's on the northern side of the complex, easy walkable from the Castillo after a row of vendors.
Do not expect something outstanding apart the hole filled with murky water, but rather use your imagination when there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s just a cenote that you can only see from a distance.
You cannot swim there and do not expect to see a lot. So it’s different than the other touristic cenotes outside valladolid.
With regards to the story and the historic meaning of this cenote with chichen itza, it is kind of special.
