★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The staff on a good day are rude, unprofessional, incompetent, and on a bad they are all of the above plus they solicit bribes for basic services. The worst part is that there is no alternative, CFE is an energy monopoly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If there were an option to rate them a zero, I would! What a joke!! These people cut off your electricity without warning (even if you have already paid in full and on time!!). They blame it on consuming "too much" electricity. Are you kidding me?? So then we paid our "additional fee" and the incompetent company says our power will be back by 9:00pm. Well it's 11:00pm and I'm home sweating my balls off in the dark.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The CFE office is basic and functional but not very helpful if you are not Spanish speaking. More ...
The operation of the office is in two parts - inside and kiosks outside.
When you get a bill from CFE, you have several days to get it paid at whatever place offers payment services (like any OXXO). If you don't get the bill paid within that time you need to visit the CFE office to pay. Outside at the kiosks is where you can pay your bill. Expect a wait... Often a long wait to get to one of the multiple kiosks.
Bring your bill if you need to pay at the kiosk.
In the corner of the bill is coded data that when held up to the kiosk scanner identifies the account, service location, and amount due - it will show you this info on the screen and ask you to confirm.
Once confirmed it will ask for your form of payment. I noticed many around were using what appeared to be some kind of prepaid card. I tried asking about it but with only a little Spanish the discussions didn't get far. Cash payment is an option. Like with an ATM deposit, the kiosk will show you a running total for each bill and coin inserted. If you don't have the exact amount due the kiosk will make change (within reason). If you are having trouble, look on the wall above the kiosks - there are instructions with graphics that help a lot. You're done, and it only took an hour or so!!!
Note, there is a "guard" outside with the kiosks that the employees inside say can help. I couldn't identify the "guard" readily. Eventually I figured out it is the really young fella sitting way off to the side smoking and playing and talking on his phone. I thought he was just there waiting for someone to finish before leaving.
If you have business with CFE inside, as you enter, on the left there is a machine where you can take a number. Once you've got it, have a seat and wait your turn - they will call your number en Espanol. Service is in Spanish, but sometimes there is an English speaking employee. Note, they do not take bill payments inside - if you try, they will simply redirect you back outside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They need to pay more attention to the payment machines outside . When I was there 2 of the 6 machines worked and out of the 2 , one won't give a recipe. Thus super long lines . Just unbelievable. Bright point though. The security guard inside is very helpful. She was an angle !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's the worst company in whole world. They cut your electricity if you don't pay in time, or sometimes they cut even if they don't have a reason, because their system is tottaly crazy. They are forcing new electronic meters (smart?) and if you want to pay electricity, you don't know how much you have to: you must put a card with chip, and it's reading your consumption, after that it cut your power, then you need to rush to their office, pay, than run back to activate it!!! Meanwhile your business or your house is without electricity. Bravo, they are genuises!!! Their telephone help (24 hrs/day) rarely operate. If there is a problem with meter or something else, they don't come for day or even months (my experience).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If only open a few hours a day least open on time! I thought I'd beat the rush and get there a 710am. There was a line of 12 people outside waiting. They opened 15 mins late at 7.15am.
When we got in the ticket machine on the left was not working. If this happens ask for the last person in the line 'último?'
There is a good review above about paying your electricity bill.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went to CFE today to get the bill for our recently purchased property changed into our name. I was expecting queues out of the door ,a long wait and difficulty communicating (because of my poor Spanish). The place was empty, we waited under a minute to be seen by a lovely lady, Susana who was extemely helpful. We had the necessary paperwork ( copy of the deed, electricity bill and copy of passport) . We were in and out in less than 10 minutes. Excellent
