El Taj Oceanfront & Beachside Condo Hotel - 77710 Playa del Carmen

Penthouse room and upper patio were both really comfortable and nice. And we liked the access to the nearby really comfortable/nice gym. And we did not mind the small smelly beach in front becuase we had read about it ahead of time, and just made plans to go down the street a 5 minute walk and paid to use the facility at Mamita's beach club, which was a bit expensive but fun. (Approx $100 USD for 4 people to get an umbrella, 4 chairs and included $50 in food allowance) But the reason for the 1 star is that we caught a housekeeper stealing a small bluetooth speaker from our patio and then management did not help. We had been off the patio for 15 minutes, and we know that no one else went up to the patio other than this particular housekeeper because my family was standing at the stair entrance waiting for me as I finished making a phone call in the room. The housekeeper was up there for only a few minutes, and then she ran down past my family in an unusual hurry for a housekeeper. Soon after that my daughter went back up to the patio to fetch the speaker she had just been listening to, and even though nothing had been cleaned, the speaker had disappeared. And when we notified the property manager, he just defended his employee and had no intention of confronting her. Bad news: This place tolerates STEALING. Now my family fears that she took some of the cash or jewelry from our stash while we were out. You can't put everything in the teeny safe. I recommend going somewhere else unless you want to carry all your valuables with you.

Do not go to this hotel. First 1 toilet paper. They are cheap to put more than one. But the number one thing is they stole money from my backpack in my room when i left. They have extra keys to go in your room when u leave to view the tourist sites. They work with thieves that follow you when u go so they can steal your belongings. They will have a guy stake you out and communicate thru whatsapp and take pictures of your family. I have never felt unsafe in my life in Mexico. Never coming back. Worst experience ever. Did not sleep well. Everything looks too good to b true. Screw u El Taj hotel thieves who work there.

I didn’t end up staying here because a matter came up and I had to leave before we checked in but the staff were so nice explained all the payment and paperwork out and were extremely helpfull! We had arrived about an hour before our check in time so they let us sit by the pool and held our luggage. We had to leave about 30 mins after and they totally understood and got us our money back without any fees or anything and were so friendly!! Would definitely recommend staying here the only cons I had were that the beach is corroded and there are fishing boats so your not able to swim and the bathroom by the beach club was just quite dirty but someone went to go clean it after me!! Definitely would recommend

Totally went above and beyond my expectations. The rooms were exceedingly large, beautiful, with two patios, incredible style and elegance. The pool was gorgeous. I don’t think you could possibly regret staying here.

Wonderful place to spend your vacation. Spacious condoes, very good service, nice pool, great beach club. Beach is small and there are boats in front, but still very nice for swimming. Perfect quiet location. You can easily walk to the larger beach with all the activities and 5th Avenue is only minutes away. Would love to come back ?

This hotel is absolutely the best! It's located in the best spot we could have asked for, right on the beach and very short walking distance to Quinta Avenida with all the clubs, restaurants and shops. The stuff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived 3 hours earlier and they let us check in when we arrived. We celebrated our honeymoon there and they decorated the room beautifully. Elkin and Gustavo were great at the beach restaurant, helpful and nice! Would definitely come back here!

Great location! Close to the strip and clubs without the noise (surprisingly). You can get a good night's sleep. The hotel have great partnerships with a nearby gym offering, close by restaurants and spa. I wouldn't recommend their beachside offering if that's a must for you, we were slightly disappointed. Staff are helpful and friendly, however during our stay the reception desk tended to be understaffed at night (x1 person) who would lock the entrance if they had to leave the desk to tend to other duties, this meant that sometimes we could not enter the building until someone was back at the desk, this was a bit frustrating. I would recommend for the location.

Beautiful place to stay. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. Their were multiple pools to swim in although they were cold. We had to ask multiple times for toilet paper which was inconvenient but not the worst thing. The review rating is low because it is NOT an ocean front view, their were at least 8 fishing boats docked at the “ocean front” which prevented us from being able to swim there and enjoy.
