Escarabajo Rojo - 77796 Tulum

Beautiful place in the jungle! Concider staying here if you want to relax and/or visit the Coba ruins! Only 20min from Tulum!

Peaceful place, full of details, near of amazing natural places to visit and the owners are great, helpful. We went with our son, 5 year old, every one has fun, it was a very positive experience.

Came to check in at 10:30pm (check in is supposedly till 11pm according to our confirmation email) and was met with no answer, to knocking or calling. So we were stranded and had to find another hotel after spending over $80 for a room here. If they are going to put hours for check-in in the conformation email they should stick to them, or at least answer the phone.

We have had a great time in Escarabajo Rojo! The best accommodation we have had on Yucatan peninsula! The hosts, Laura and Michael, managed to create a wonderful oasis in these quite touristic area of Tulum. They were very hospitable and gave us valuable tips what to visit in the area. It is the perfect location to explore the Tulum, Coba, cenotes, beaches and more and at the same time very calm place in the middle of the jungle. Breakfast and dinners are really tasty, with good quality ingredients.

This place is absolutely beautiful. If you're looking for a unique home away from home, I highly recommend Escarabajo Rojo! Our gracious host Laura and her family were both welcoming as they were attentive. The hotel is located just 20 minutes away from Tulum and a great location to drive from if you want to see Coba! Guest can comfortably get in and out with their own personal key to the main gate and personal cabin. So it really feel like your own home. They offer guest a continental breakfast complete with juices and teas. But if you want something more hearty you may want to eat in town or I believe for a charge they'll accommodate your needs also. The rooms are attended to everyday.I must say it does get pretty humid as expected but nothing uncomfortable. While we did walk around the area once or twice, I suggest having a bike or a car to get around this area in order to utilize your day better. There are some local eateries and gift shops around the area. But you'll probably have more of a choice in Tulum. I also love and appreciate that she supports local businesses around the area. You'll see some of her pieces around town in local shops, which to me is a special touch. My only critique would be to offer bikes if possible and probably wiping off the sitting area, as they were often wet from the morning mist. But overall for the price and hospitality, Laura and her family truly made our stay that much more memorable. Thank you! Definitely will stay here again!!

Beautiful experience at Escarabajo Rojo with our beautiful host. We loved the treehouse bungalow, the dipping pool, the fruit, the books, the inspiration. A jungle oasis!

Highly not recommended. There are so many other beautiful places to stay in the jungle around Tulum and Coba other than here..I will never stay at this location again, neither would I recommend it to any one.. The host was super rude for no reason and a complete liar, traffic and loud music all through the night, I could not sleep the whole 3 nights I was there. I found what looked to be a cockroach in the worst most bland food I have ever had in my lifetime and she overcharges for everything..Try her place out for yourself and you will see..Also after 2 days of being there she said her and her sister had tested positive for Covid-19.Worst experience while I was in Mexico or anywhere I have traveled period..

Stayed at Escarabajo Rojo for 3 weeks to explore Tulum and the surrounding area. Our host Laura was caring, attentive, and competent in answering our questions about what to see and do in Tulum and surrounding areas. The cabin was beautiful, well kept, and comfortable.
