I booked a 6 hour fishing trip a couple of days in advance in high season, Ticker and Joe were very helpful and diligent to make it happen. The boat and equipment were very good, the crew was very knowledgeable and accommodating and the ceviche was delicious. We had a fantastic bonus: whales and dolphin watching in the bay. We did catch a few small mackerel and some feisty skipjack, and all in all had great fun. I planned a solo trip and Joe asked if I would accommodate another guest: I’m happy I said yes since it ended up being a great fishing buddy. I got a small discount, but what I didn’t get in cash I got in fun. Happy to recommend.

Can't say enough about Fishing Rebels. Jonny was easy to deal with when i booked the trip online. He was always quick to respond to the emails I would send. The guides Manny and Rodrigo were experienced locals who had great knowledge of the surrounding waters. The equipment and boat were in great shape as well. They were happy to accommodate our requests to try for various species. Although we did not hook up with any bill fish this time, we did manage to catch a nice Dorado and a few Roosterfish. The dorado ended up being made into fresh ceviche right on the boat. Delicioso!! Would I recommend Fishing Rebels? Absolutely!!

My husband booked a fishing trip for us on our last full day in PV and, even though I got sea sick, we were able to catch many fish and had a wonderful morning. Manny and Oscar were very accommodating and did everything to help and make sure our experience was the best. And it was! We will definitely take our sons when we return. Highly recommend!

Very Knowledgeable Guide, Mates, and Captain – High-Quality Equipment – Several Firsts on Two Trips – Fabulous Fresh Ceviche! - I booked Fishing Rebels twice – the first time for a 1.5-day trip starting October 28, and the second time for an 8-hour charter on November 2. The first trip had us on a 66-foot boat (“Sisters”) by 10am, and my wife and I went to sleep in the main bedroom. The captain left the dock around 3am the next morning. I woke up to fishing at sunrise as the guide and mates had already put out lines and a kite rig near La Corbetena, a rock about 36 miles offshore – they’d already caught a tuna by the time I was up. Needless to say, Brenda the cook made a great breakfast and kept us in food all day. We caught yellowfin tuna, red snapper, my first dorado (a.k.a. mahi), and a another first for me, a rainbow runner (with two beautiful blue stripes on each side). The captain, two mates, cook, and fishing guide (Jonny Ocean) made the trip fantastic for my wife and me. Some of the tuna was used to make a big bowl of ceviche mid-afternoon and it was fabulous. The highlight was the biggest tuna of the day, hooked on one of the kite lines. We estimate it weighed 60 kilos (over 130 lbs.) and it hit near the end of the day, taking an hour to land. Needless to say, I ended up taking some fish of each of the four species and having it cooked by a restaurant on the beach in Puerto Vallarta the next evening, and my family (nine of us at a table on the beach) said it’s the best meal they’ve ever had in Puerto Vallarta – I concur! You can’t get any fresher fish! I went again with Fishing Rebels the next Friday, on a shorter panga (30 feet), and we fished off Punta de Mita, which marks the north end of Banderas Bay. This was a shorter trip – 8 hours – but it produced some quality fish. My friend caught his first sailfish (a 7-footer), and my cousin’s boyfriend caught two nice bull dolphin, bigger than any he’s caught before. The mate made ceviche from some of the skipjack tuna that we also caught, and it was absolutely delicious. The captains, mates, and guide always do a great job (I’ve fished with Fishing Rebels several times). Even on slow days they make it enjoyable with stories of past trips, and they’re always friendly.

Hard-Fishing Guides Who Went Overtime A friend of mine and I had planned to fish the 2020 Los Muertos Pier fishing tournament with Fishing Rebels on November 7, but the tournament was cancelled due to COVID. We went fishing that day anyway, aiming for marlin, sailfish, or dorado. Because we went out to what's known as El Banco (the Bank), almost 50 miles offshore where an underwater seamount comes within a couple of hundred feet of the surface with big fish often in the area, we left the marina a little after 4am and headed out. We arrived just about dawn and started fishing. We caught baitfish trolling smaller lures and the mates expertly rigged them up so we could troll for big fish. We trolled and trolled, occasionally stopping to catch fresh bait with light-action rods and reels we'd brought from the States - it was a blast to hook a 5- or 6-pound skipjack from big schools. The mates regularly changed lures, baits, and tried everything that might work. Despite working expertly - and I've fished for decades offshore so I know what this means - it was just "one of those days." Nevertheless, we had some fun conversation although one of the mates doesn't speak very good English. I can't say I've ever had a crew work harder than these two guys. We trolled all the way in, not arriving at the marina until nearly 7:30pm, although we'd booked "only" a 12-hour trip. Despite not catching any big fish, it was a thrill to hook and fight skipjacks in open water - with the skipjacks' amazing power and long runs in the open ocean, they'd put a largemouth bass the same size to shame. We would have been willing to pay for the extra hours, but the captain didn't ask for any additional and we tipped him well. I've fished with Fishing Rebels for many years, and you can't catch a big one every time, but this was still a great trip as we saw sea turtles, lots of porpoises (including spinner dolphins hurling themselves out of the water in big schools), and many vast schools of skipjacks, which are nice perks of fishing far offshore. Plus, the trip was at a very, very reasonable price (much less than what it would have cost anywhere in the United States)!

Manny and Luis were skilled professionals with a great attitude. They never had a line out of the water for more than a minute after we brought in a fish (32 in all). And the ceviche they prepared onboard using the fish we caught was amazing! We would definitely recommend taking a fishing trip with them the next time you visit Puerto Vallarta.

Communication and booking through Johnny was a breeze, Capt Oscar and mate Charlie were true fishing professionals and a very clean boat. Cevichie made on the boat was an excellent bonus. These guys are definitely better than the others I fished with here.

We had a great 8 hour trip and overall experience on the Yazmin with Oscar and Rodrigo. They were great guides and put us on some Bonita right away. We also went and got some Spanish mackerel as well. About half way through the day we went a little further out to troll for Sailfish, Dorado and blue marlin. We had one big take down but were not able to hook it. At the end of the day Rodrigo helped us get to the store to get a cooler and some bags to transport our fish back to the states. He also gave us a ride back to our hotel so we didn't hat to take a taxi. Great service, price, Great guides and I would absolutely got with them again.
