Amazing mezcaleria! The staff here really know their mezcals. I came in thinking all mezcals are woody and smokey and left knowing that the mezcal culture is so much deeper than I thought. A must visit for anyone visiting Oaxaca. Reservations are required so please call ahead before u visit.

The place is great for mezcal tasting and to improve knowledge on mezcal. Be sure to eat some food before as the tasting can be a bit rough! Overall it was a great experience to learn and know more about mezcal

Excellent Mezcal tasting experience. They only do one tasting per hour so it feels like you have the whole bar to yourself. The bartenders are experts in the art of making and drinking Mezcal and are great at recommending varieties that suit your taste.

Good mezcal, but horrible service. We came to buy a couple of bottles. The guy who was working there was extremely arrogant and cold. He said I have great bottles, but is it in your budget? He also treated my boyfriend with arrogance assuming he was a foreigner, which he is not - he is just a blonde Mexican. Don’t go there. Or at least don’t go there when the arrogant guy is working! We were there on the 27th of March.

We recommend this for a more cerebral approach for the tasting of Mezcal. This is not a bar and should not be treated as such, If you go in wanting to learn more about the spirit, you will definitely come out wiser. We absolutely loved our tasting and found it refreshing to meet someone who takes the production of mezcal so seriously

I highly recommend doing a tasting here. You will be invited to try mezcals from the small batch producers in Mexico. One of the mezcals we tried was from a batch of just 150 litres. Bastien the bartender, is extremely knowledgeable and well spoken. Contact them in advance to arrange a private tasting.

Mezcal variety was great. Server allowed me to sit per a no-show, which I was happy about since last visit I didn’t realize a reservation was essentially required. I’m a solo traveler and would have found the experience a bit quiet had the original bookee not shown up. Truthfully, I was a bit underwhelmed. Experience could be elevated with store providing scorecards to keep track of mezcal types along the tasting. I’m in my B&B and can’t remember anything I tried (sure one could take photos… but it’s not the same as a more tactile reference). And *perhaps* the slightest bit of music for ambiance (though I understand it’s a la bibliotheca).

Second time here was just as enjoyable as the first. They are very friendly and attentive. They’ll ask you about your experience with mezcal, what coffee/ beer/ wine you like and then provide a personalized tasting. The space feels like a cool, old library and is central to everything. If you want to go, just make sure you have a reservation far in advance!
