La Onda - Tulum Beach

Nice place to have drinks and chill. Bartender up front is awesome at what she does and the owner is super friendly and engaging. The place has a very welcoming atmosphere.

Beautiful restaurant on the beach road in Tulum. The Prices are high but that's what you get down in the obscure paths away from the main stream. We had a very Fresh Lobster Pizza, my first, and a Ham & Pineapple with some Fruity Waters. I would come again, bring a bike, bathing suit and not want to leave. Ooooh Tulum.

This place is great! Valentina and Ramon (the owners) are very sweet and friendly! We ordered a pizza with shrimp and bacon, chicken fajitas and a smoothie...all of which were very tasty! I would suggest paying in pesos anywhere you go in Tulum! We wanted to pay with card because we didn't have enough cash on us but their card reader wasn't working and I think the internet was down. There were several businesses that night that were having the same issue. Fortunately, Ramon was very generous to let us borrow his vespa motorbike to go to an ATM to get cash! When we returned, he offered us shots haha.. Regarding the atmosphere: very warm and inviting. Outdoor seating with a small pool against the wall, great for families, and they also have a pool table. Highly recommend giving La Onda a go! :)

The restaurant claims they have the best pizza in the world but it is just average bar style pizza you’d find at any bar in the US. Not amazing but not horrible. They do have gluten free pasta though. Also they proactively brought out ranch dressing with the pizza so they got an extra star for that.

I would love to give this place 3 stars for the food because the pizza and burger were tasty. Our Long Island ice teas were WAY too acidic but the bartender made us something special and it was delicious. When we received the check it was in pesos and USD. The conversion rate was 17.85 pesos to 1 USD, other restaurants on the strip have been around 20 so that’s what we were expecting, and then he insisted they had no credit card machine and we had to pay cash. Seemed super scammy to me and left a bad taste in our mouths. We would have loved to visit again, but not to get scammed out of extra money on our ticket.

Loved my experience and vibes at this establishment, I am from New York and this place made me feel comfortable and safe. Out of all the overrated, overpriced restaurants and bars in Tulum this one deserves some more love as I went a few times and it wasn’t as busy as it should’ve been. The pizza is amazing for a night with drinks and you must try the passion margarita! totally worth it.

Full marks! I came here alone for fish tacos and a couple of cervezas, and left with a pizza and an order of chicken tacos for the whole family. Friendly service, and the food is made from very high quality ingredients. I was especially impressed by the quality of the tomatoes, which were sweet and just the right level of tangy. Everything tasted wonderful. Highly recommend this place.

It’s ok pizza - certainly average. Not amazing or the best, but not the worst. The dough and crust is more similar to a beefed up tortilla, than traditional Italian style or taste. My greatest word those in this area, would be go just a little further north (Tulumunchies area - Pizza Pazz Tulum) and you’ll find way better pizza in my opinion. Also, when this particular place is busy, the leftover flour just sits there, and I watched several birds fly down and eat off of the dough making station. Pretty certain someone, at some point has gotten sick because of that. Just be aware and careful. I’m sure when it’s hopping & busy at night this won’t happen.
