★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Likely a scam and rip off, but woman at the pier is a talented sales person!
Similar to many reviews we saw, we were approached by a lovely and helpful woman at the pier in Playa del Carmen — she gave us helpful information and seemed very trustworthy, offering a good deal on scooters and snorkeling gear when we book in advance before getting to the island. Unfortunately, I quickly looked through some reviews to see that this seems to be a common experience — awesome customer experience at the playa pier and then they rip you off or provide low quality bikes and rentals on the Cozumel side.
Mostly leaving this review to encourage the sales woman on the pier to find a new gig! She is amazing at what she does and could seriously provide a value to the world by redirecting her skills to something less sketchy!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The worst place to rent. After that we paid at Playa del Carmen (while waiting to the ferry), a woman said that we do not have to pay more. When we arrived the man at the office said that +200 peso mandatory. Ok, we paid because we want to go. In the first stop the motorbike burned my leg, it do not show the speed.
At finally we late the ferry because the motor became wrong and full stopped.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DO NOT RENT HERE. The Ultramar Ferry Staff will highly recommend this place and show you photos of Jeeps that are not the ones they rent out. The price we were charged was considered a discount at $86 each for the day. Their entire Jeep fleet is falling apart. We rented two, had to decline one of them because it was running rough. The next one we got had it’s issues as well. No A/C. Beat to hell. Hood hinge broken. Front wheels do not point the same direction. Constant popping noise when turning. AND THEN the battery died on us. Then while trying to jump the one, the other Jeep wouldn’t start because it was leaking fuel. We got one Jeep started and they brought another one. We were afraid to fuel up because we did not want to turn off the one with the dead battery so we drove straight back. They wanted to fight over us not fueling them up knowing all the issues we had. It was also a fight to get them to drop the fuel charge which eventually they did. We felt very unsafe and did not feel comfortable driving over 60 kph. The Jeep was hard to handle and all over the road while attempting to keep it straight. AND MISSING LUG NUTS ON THE ONE WE DECLINED THAT SOMEONE ELSE AFTER US RENTED.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lairs and cheats! Victor approached us while boarding the Ferry to Cozumel. Promised us 4 Jeeps. We asked if gas and insurance were included in the price we negotiated. He laughed at us (as if that was a dumb question) and said "Of course!". After walking to the office he informed us that one of the Jeeps wasn't working so we were offered a compact car instead. LOL! Then...they present us with MORE paperwork and explain there will be extra charges for insurance and gas. That was enough for me to throw a fit. I reminded him, in front of his boss (grumpy dude) that he said it was all included. He gave a confused look and denied he said such a thing. He looked me in the eye and lied. We immediately left in a rage for the whole town to witness. Too bad they try and operate a scam instead of just offering a legitimate business with decent service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This company is an absolute scam. A “friendly” woman who sells rentals for Mahi Mahi named Diana approached us while standing in line at the ferry from Playa del Carmen. She sold us the rental service for the Jeep from Mahi Mahi. The big mistake is they sell you the rental service before you even arrive to the rental location on Cozumel. They do this because they deceive tou into this “great” rental service, however it is horrible. The vehicles are old and do not work properly. The Jeep they rented to us was rusted and barely shifted gears. No windshield wipers. In horrible condition. We took video of the Jeep for evidence. The worst part was, if we turn the vehicle off, it will not start back up. It continued to stall on us and Finally after two hours of attempting to get it started, into our “all day” rental we were able to get it started and drove it straight back to the Mahi Mahi location. The agent Victor argued with me when I told him the vehicle would not start, he yelled at me and he claimed “this never happens”. After seeing all of the reviews, this clearly happens regularly. He couldn’t even start the Jeep after we returned it to move it out of the narrow street. Stay away from this company!! They are a SCAM! Shame on Cozumel. We will never visit that island again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a SCAM! Do not rent here. We were wary of giving our credit card for a damage deposit so we opted for a cash deposit of 2700 peso. We also insisted they write the amount deposit on the carbon copy paper. When we returned she kept 1000 peso. They wrote on their (white copy) of the rental agreement that the amount deposit was lower than what we paid. Luckily we had our yellow copy showing what our actual deposit was. Next she tried to give us a mix of peso and usd insisting it was enough money and it wasn't. We continued to argue and she eventually gave our full amount back.
When we left the shop there was another couple who's atv broke down and the lady was telling them they broke it and she was keeping their deposit. SCAM!
The atv we rented did not run well and we barely had enough fuel to get around the island.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place will be a big disappointment. Don't rent from him. He will charge you a 15 dollar insurance fee then when you get back he will send you to a gas station that has a 2hr wait. So you will get tired of that and then he will charge you 20 dollars for the gallon of gas ya used because you have to bring the car back because the transmission is slipping. Your call.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Place is a scam. Paid and waited an hour and they only brought 2 of the 3 ATVs that were paid for. One of them was broken and died every time you came to a stop. Continued to wait longer and they said the lot they store them was 5 blocks away. Stay away at all costs
