National Car Rental - 77710 Playa del Carmen

We found the crew to be professional and working quickly. We got a total price with no hidden fees or extra sales later, car was clean and in good condition and checkout/in went quickly. Maybe not the cheapest in PDC, but for us, worth the price for not having any issues.

I'm Mexican and I can tell this company hides a lot of extra charge, I have paid my reservation in advance but when I arrived to pick up the car they try to charge me extra because I didn't book directly from them, in the website where I booked the car didn't say about that I need to leave a deposit with a credit card, but in the office they requested the credit card. Well talking about the car, I book a family car and they gave me a small car because they didn't have the car that I've booked, I don't expect a brand new car or luxury car but the car was in terrible conditions the stearin wheel was shaking when you reach the speed limit 110km that is around 70 miles, the car was dirty and smelly. I don't recommend at all this company, I dont know they gave me that service because I'm Mexican because in the other reviews the people is from other countries or maybe they didn't realize all the extra charges.

Very honest and easy to work with. I was worried based on reviews from other companies, but Dania at National charged me exactly what she said (which was a reasonable rate and included all required coverages) and didn't try to upsell or add any fees when I brought it back. Very pleased and would definitely use them again.

Highly recommend this company! Management is nice and helpful. There were no issues during the pickup and drop-off of the car. Everything is clear, fast, and at a good price!

I have been renting with National for a long time and this experience makes me want to stop all together. They shouldn’t have the name if they can’t provide the service that is expected with the brand. To start, they take a 20,000 peso hold on your card which I don’t like and here is the exact reason why. I returned the car and they went on to charge me double of what my rental should have cost and just took it from the deposit so instead of getting 10,000 pesos back they said my entire rental cost 20,000 pesos which it did not, it was only half that. They didn’t call me to correct this and it was only because I showed up at the location they said they would fix it. If I didn’t go, I am sure they would have just kept my money by “mistake”. Now that they are refunding me they are saying it is going to take 15-25 business days plus the amount of time my bank takes to put the money back. So, when I showed concern about the deposit of 20,000 they assured me it would be returned with 12-24 hours after the car being returned.. now I’m going to have to wait over a month to get my $600+ back. Renting in Mexico is a mess and I expected the brand that I am the top tier member of would give me better service than stealing my money.

After reading reviews of the other rental companies, I was getting worried about renting a car in Playa. However, I came here due to the positive reviews. Dania helped check me in and didn’t try to upsell me - she confirmed that the TPL insurance I booked on the reservation was what was required and explained the other coverages but did not pressure me to get them. The price I signed was the price I saw on the reservation. She performed a detailed review of the car with me and I was on my way. Would recommend! I returned the car to the Cancun Airport. The staff quickly checked the condition of the car and I was on my way. The shuttle service to the terminal was quick (they indicate shuttles run every 5 minutes).

After reading reviews about various car rental places in Playa Del Carman not honoring reservations, but that this place does, I decided to rent from here. The car was ready for us when we arrived - an almost brand new VW Polo (we booked a Compact car). They also did not push to order extra insurance but just informed of the 10% i had to pay of any damage and offered extra insurance to avoid it, but accepted that I was fine with the 10%. Overall good service and I would recommend renting from here despite that the place is a little bit of a walk from the centre.
