Soul Beach Luxury Boutique Hotel & Spa - 77710 Playa del Carmen

We stayed at The Soul for 3 nights and enjoyed it, it was overall good value. I give it overall 4.5 starts for the below: Location: 5 stars, only half a block from the famous 5th ave. It's great if you want to be close to all shopping and restaurants Amenities: everything is as described. We didn't use the pool but it looks nice Staffs: everyone was friendly Cleanliness: 3.5- the floor was dirty and we did not get fresh towels everyday unless your towels are on the floor. The room also has musty smell (quite common in Playa). I saw a leak on the ceiling in the hall way with some concern of mold. The hotel probably needs some maintenance. Overall would stay here again but not on the 1st floor and for less than $60/night

Hotel is fine and location is grate but lack of service. Asked for two empty glasses for the room but they can't provide it. Reception doesn't help and the bar says no. Also asked for two more chairs for the balcony since we are 4 people travelling. Didn't help with that either.

I started my trip off in Tulum where I stayed at a smaller hotel with much more modest accommodations and amenities, so Soul Beach Beach Boutique Hotel provided some respite in the last part of my trip. It was nice to finally take a comfortable shower upon arrival and then a warm bath ON MY BALCONY as the rain poured outside on my second day in Playa del Carmen; this in addition to the comfortable bed, access to delicious takeout all around me and Netflix in suite made me feel as though I hadn't lost a day of my trip due to the weather. It just felt really good to unwind. I enjoyed the spa at extra cost, but it was certainly worth the money as Diago's therapeutic massage, the hydrotherapy session and sauna were exactly what I needed after 10 days of exploration, partying and non-stop movement. Mary–who I think is the hotel manager–was also super helpful! Anytime I had a question or a request she was able to deliver almost instantly: booking a covid test, providing a blowdryer, scheduling a taxi to the airport...she's the fairy godmother of Soul Beach Hotel. I honestly didn't realize that the hotel was as nice when booking, but it was a pleasant surprise and I'll certainly stay here again in the future if ever in PDC.

a basic hotel, you are welcomed by a security where you do not immediately feel safe. a friendly greeting from the receptionist, this if you find them of course, especially towards the late hours. you enter an uninviting restaurant/bar where you will see staff sitting undisturbed looking at their mobile phone/laptop and giving the feeling that they don't like being there. in this restaurant you will be able to have breakfast very late (from 9 am) and from a VERY limited menu. the rooms are at least clean, the beds small for a double bed. nothing more to say about it. the rooftop bar / swimming pool was unsociable, here too staff who showed no interest in their work, if you found them of course, constant electronic music in the background with knocking and sawing of the construction works in the building next door. you don't want to sit here all day. ABOUT THE SAFETY IN THE HOTEL. Plya del carmen and all of México are not known for being safe, but since you see several patrols on the street you would think they have it under control. An incident at the hotel happened on the penultimate night of our stay. at 1 am a very loud constant knocking started, there was shouting. we thought there might be urgent work to be done, so let it go. if this continues and gets worse we thought something else was going on . we tried to contact the reception but there was no answer. hotel was full so we thought, there must be someone who calls the police. in the two hours that this lasted we did not see any police from our window. we thought there was security. this lasted for 2 hours and the calm had returned. didn't sleep much that night. the next morning i went to the front desk to ask what was going on. they knew nothing about it and went to look at the camera images and give us more information. During the day I asked several times but did not receive a proper explanation. till now i don't know if our lives were in danger or not but i didn't feel safe anymore. I don't come here anymore.

The hotel room is dirty, the towels are ragged - stained, the bedding is dirty, the internet is stuttering, the door opener card was broken twice in 8 days. There is no hot water for a long time, if there is - no water! The hotel is constantly buzzing at night, so you can't relax. Instead of 0-24, the reception only has a night porter who can’t help you with anything. I do not recommend to anyone! There is no answer or compensation for errors! Bad hotel experiences ruin your travel experience !!! ?

Nice little gem in the midst of Playa, walking distance to everything and for the price it was very nice! Honestly probably a little nicer than I expected. The staff was super nice as well. The breakfast is just ok, but it was included and available late morning!

CHOOSE ANOTHER HOTEL! THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL WHERE I'VE BEEN. The bathroom is disgusting! We arrived late on our first day, there was no hot water! The air conditioning unit or the machinery operating the pool was buzzing unconsciously, it was impossible to sleep! The receptionist transferred us to another room where we could stay for two days. We discussed the time to move in, and when we got back to the hotel sooner, our room was different. OUR STUFFS, DOCUMENTS, BAGS, CLOTHES, ALL OUR MONEY WERE NEVER! Unbeknownst to us, they packed our stuff sooner than the agreed move time and moved it to another room, which was much cheaper and in worse condition than what we paid for! HAS THIS SERIOUSLY HAPPENED? we didn't believe it! There are no words for that. The hotel is beautifull, the zone is very nice,the staff is very kind. The pool is open until 10:00 PM I think. My reason for the 2 starts are: I was there for 6 days and I had hot water to take a shower just one night, they never fixed and the staff just continue to push the fix to the next day in a kind way. No to parking available and they don`t give any facility to park. Is a expensive hotel and don`t include breakfast. In our rooms, the bedroom and the bathroom are continuous, without separation, as if it were a motel.
