Excellent resort. Snorkeling right off the beach. Wonderful friendly helpful staff. Fantastic food in the a la cartes. Entire resort was exceptionally clean. Highly recommend. There is absolutely no way this is a 3 star hotel. That's absurd. 4.5 is more accurate

The staff were friendly & helpful. They had great events for the kiddos. Rooms were nice. It did get a bit noisy in the mornings when people were getting up & about for the day. The restaurants were first come, first served. We only wound up waiting once for about 20min, which not really a big deal. It was a hike from the airport (almost 1.5hrs)

Stayed at this beautiful resort Jan9-16 , was the most beautiful room and walk out right onto the beach ! Food amazing ! Staff amazing and friendly ! Will definitely be back ! Definitely upgrade to the sun club ! Worth it ! Shout out to manager and waiter Javier in the olive branch ! Amazing service ! Also bartenders in front lobby ! Everyone deserves a great review !! can't wait for next time! Must also mention how the staff were very strict and diligent on mask wearing and Covid protocols. ! Good job team leaders !

A nice and family friendly resort. With decent food. The staff is very friendly and there are a lot of activities. There are plenty of amenities including lots of swimming pools and even a rooftop club for adults. There is also a lot of wildlife. You'll also be able to beat the heat with complimentary juice in the resort lobby. There are friendly travel agents on site who can help you book excursions. Overall we very happy with our stay.

All I have to say is WOW!!! I am not sure what people are complaining about. For the price of this place and the amazing service we had is unreal. 1. If you don’t upgrade to sun club you’re doing it wrong. Just upgrade, it’s worth it. 2. Every restaurant we ate at was delicious. The Olive Branch was unbelievable. The service was five star quality. The buffet is iffy and that’s almost your only option to eat if you don’t upgrade to sun club. The beach is beautiful for swimming, our room/bed was so comfy. It was amazing for the price. I only have good things to say and can’t wait to come back!

While the workers at this resort were very kind and it was overall a nice trip, I do think there are many ways this resort needs to improve. This resort cut as many corners and took as many shortcuts as possible to label itself as “all inclusive”, while not providing access to MOST of the resort/services/amenities without extra fees or a paid club membership. My family and I were under the impression we would have access to the whole resort, but the vast majority of the resort was closed off and only accessible to “club members”. Most of the places shown in photos on the website and on google we never even got to glimpse because we weren’t members, and the rooms pictured on google are not the rooms the average guest receives. We had access to about a hundred feet of beach space (with not nearly enough chairs to accommodate the amount of people at the resort), only one pool out of several at the resort, the buffet, and restaurants ONLY for dinner. Room service AND laundry service, which I assumed was provided at an all inclusive resort, was not because we were not club members. I could tolerate all of this if it weren’t for the fact that I stayed at a resort in Cancun previously that provided all of these things and more at no extra cost - and the total price of my stay at that resort was CHEAPER than here. The process for meals was also a big hassle. At previous same-cost resorts you could get snacks easily, meals and drinks delivered on the beach, etc. Here, there was absolutely no way to get a snack aside from cookies at a cafe far from the beach. You either had to get a full sit down meal or not eat at all; meaning you had to go back to your room, get dressed, put on a mask, check into the restaurant, and spend an hour of your day at the restaurant. None of the food could be brought out of the restaurants or buffet either. The resort would benefit a lot from even just offering chips and guacamole at the bars as a snack. The food at the buffet tasted cheap and not fresh, and the drinks at the bars tasted mostly like high fructose corn syrup. Finally, you could hear every single thing through the walls of the room. We were up at night because we could hear every sound happening in every other room nearby. That’s all. I do want to emphasize the kindness of the workers; the staff do not need to be blamed, the owners just need to improve how they’re running the place. :)

This place deserves zero stars. I don’t know where to start. Our walk out pool room was a fountain not a swimming pool in which the employee told us we could get in the fountain as if it was a swimming pool. There is clearly an issue with the plumbing system. The side of hotel smells like sewage and the bath tube/shower was clogged the water did not drain out so you showered in a pool of water “gross”. Maintenance came three times with no resolution. When we tried to be accommodated the front desk staff spoke condescending & continued to brush us off telling us the resort was sold out and there was nothing that they could do come back tomorrow. After one whole day & into the afternoon we cried, yelled and screamed. We were able to get a new room 2 doors away from the original room (such a smack in the face). This hotel has another side that is updated. I have no idea of what you need to have to be on this side of the resort when we all paid the same for the trip. Some of our traveling party were placed on the better side. After all of the room issues here goes the food. Omg the food was horrible “slop” to be exact! They have a very small selection and nothing was good I mean nothing. How can you not have a good buffet selection. We had to rent a car to leave the resort to find food. This was the worst experience that I have ever had when traveling. It totally ruined our vacation. I cannot stress enough Sunscape Akumal Resort & Spa please close down and recreate. It is unfair to continue to take money from travelers with such a horrible resort! Upgrade Please!!! I have pictures & videos for proof!!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The snorkeling off the beach was great and the infinity pool was a great way to unwind. The service was excellent and we loved all the staff members we came across. Ismael, Jorge, Edi, and Juan were great bartenders. Raul and Rogelio were our restaurant staff and anticipated our needs. Overall, loved the staff. Your experience is what you make it, and we ended up having a fantastic time and would do it again.
